Why does my baby always shake his head when sleeping?

Why does my baby always shake his head when sleeping?

The environment and habits in which a baby lives shape his or her character. Especially when he or she is young, it is important to provide the child with a good environment in which to grow up, otherwise many problems will arise. Some babies are very restless when they sleep and often shake their heads when they sleep. So what is the reason why babies always shake their heads when they sleep?

1. Lack of trace elements and low blood calcium levels will cause increased excitability of the brain and autonomic nerves, resulting in the baby's restless sleep at night. Calcium and vitamin D supplementation is needed. If calcium is deficient, the baby's fontanelle will not close well; if zinc is deficient, the corners of the mouth will generally ulcerate.

2. Eczema and itching. Many breastfed babies will develop eczema, also known as milk rash. Sometimes it is very itchy, and the baby will keep scratching with his hands and shaking his head, maybe this will make him feel more comfortable. I think my baby's discomfort is caused by eczema. There's nothing we can do about it. If it's not very serious, medication is not recommended. It will get better naturally after weaning.

3. Otitis media. If the baby is too young and water gets into his ears during bathing, it is easy to develop otitis media. You can observe whether there is pus flowing out. Otitis media can make your baby feel very uncomfortable. Babies cannot yet coordinate to scratch their ears to express discomfort, so they will just shake their heads, so mothers have to pay close attention.

4. There is vernix caseosa on the head that has not been washed clean. It is very important to keep the baby's head clean. The baby's head must be kept clean because it is easy for the baby to produce oil. Bathing and washing the baby's head frequently will make the baby feel comfortable and sleep well.

Why does my baby always shake his head when sleeping? The above are some of the reasons why babies shake their heads. Shaking their heads while sleeping is an unintentional thing, so you must observe carefully to see if the baby is lacking in any nutrition or has an unclean scalp. I hope all babies can grow up healthy and happy.
