What to do for children's hearing screening

What to do for children's hearing screening

Children can undergo regular physical screenings when conditions permit, so that we can know their physical health status in a timely manner and if the examination shows no unhealthy factors, we can also provide timely treatment. However, what kind of preparations do we need to take when doing pediatric hearing screening or what should we do during the examination?

Newborn hearing screening considerations

Before screening:

1. Listen carefully to the screening personnel's explanation of the significance and methods of hearing screening; read the informed consent form carefully and sign it.

2. The best test results are obtained when the baby is in natural sleep state. If the baby is irritable or crying, it will affect the test results. Therefore, parents should try to feed the baby and put him to sleep before the hearing test.

3. Change the baby's diaper into a clean one to make him comfortable and stop him from crying.

4. Choose a blanket of appropriate thickness for your baby. If it is too thin, the baby will get cold easily, and if it is too thick, it will affect the operation.

Screening:

1. Keep quiet and avoid talking; turn off all communication devices and avoid noise.

2. Keep your baby in the correct screening posture, expose the test ear and avoid covering it.

3. During the test, parents can gently place their hands on the baby's shoulders to make the baby feel safe.

4. After finishing the operation on one ear, do not turn the baby over hard to avoid waking the baby up. Instead, cooperate with the doctor to gently turn the baby over to the other ear.

After screening:

1. Listen carefully to the doctor's explanation. If you fail the screening, follow the doctor's instructions.

2. Children at high risk of hearing loss should undergo hearing monitoring every 6 months until they are 3 years old.

3. Those who pass the screening should receive regular hearing care from the children's health care department.

4. Pay attention to prevent noise, drugs, etc. from damaging your baby's hearing.

5. Pay attention to your baby's hearing and speech development. If there is any suspected developmental delay, seek medical attention promptly to rule it out.

During children's hearing screening, parents should remind their children to cooperate with the doctor's examination. If they do not cooperate with the doctor's examination, once something goes wrong, it will cause a lot of misunderstandings. In order to avoid errors in the examination, it is best to cooperate with each other and try to make the screening go smoothly.
