Bleeding gums can occur in both children and adults. Some children have bleeding gums easily, like my younger brother. When my brother was 5 years old, bleeding gums was very normal. But it made my parents very anxious. We took a lot of medicine and tried many folk remedies. Finally, my brother’s bleeding gums stopped bleeding. So what causes bleeding gums in children? 1. The most common local cause is gingivitis. The gums will bleed if there is a slight bump when brushing your teeth, and this bleeding will stop soon after brushing your teeth. In addition, if caries has damaged most of the crown, there is sharp enamel tissue on the surface of the remaining crown, which can cut the gums like a knife and cause bleeding gums. If you eat carelessly and a bone pierces your gums, it can also cause bleeding gums. These two types of gingival bleeding only occur on the gums of individual teeth. Once the residual crown is removed and the bone spur is removed, the bleeding will stop. 2. Some gingival bleeding is caused by systemic diseases. Scurvy is a systemic bleeding disease caused by a lack of ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Gingival bleeding is a prominent feature of the disease. Children with scurvy have dark red swollen gums that sometimes cover the crowns of the teeth. In addition, various blood system diseases can cause symptoms of bleeding gums, such as thrombocytopenic purpura, hemophilia, etc., which are mostly manifested as bleeding gums or bleeding after tooth extraction, which is difficult to stop using general hemostatic methods. If you encounter this situation, be sure to ask a doctor to check and find out the cause of the bleeding so that you can prescribe the right medicine. 1. Improper brushing: Sometimes a toothbrush that is too large, with rough and hard bristles, or using an incorrect horizontal brushing method when brushing teeth can also cause bleeding gums. Food stuck between teeth, such as fish bones, broken bones, or toothpicks piercing the gums can also cause bleeding. Tooth bleeding caused by these local reasons generally does not cause serious effects on the body. As long as the local irritants are removed, the gum bleeding phenomenon will disappear. 2. Gingivitis: Due to inflammation of the gums, the capillaries in the gums dilate and proliferate. In addition, the keratinization of the gingival epithelium of children is poor, and the slightest stimulation will cause the gingival capillaries to rupture and bleed. If tartar is deposited in the gingival sulcus, the hard tartar will damage the gums, making bleeding more likely. Now you know the reasons for children's bleeding gums. Some children have bleeding gums when they brush their teeth or after eating, while others leave blood marks on food when they eat steamed buns or drink water, and there is even blood stains from the mouth on the pillow after waking up. These all indicate that the gums are bleeding. Don't worry about this. Find out what caused it first and then seek treatment. |
