How to deal with something getting into your baby's eyes

The baby's every move concerns adults, and the baby's eyes are important organs that deserve protection. When something gets into the baby's eyes, parents should not rub or blow on them with their hands. If the condition is serious, the baby can be taken to the ophthalmology department of the hospital for a check-up. If a small object gets into the baby's eyes, you can use milk to stain the baby's eyes, so that the dirt will flow out with the milk. Let's learn in detail what to do if something gets into the baby's eyes?

Accidentally getting foreign objects into the eyes may seem like a small matter, but if not treated in time it may cause conjunctivitis or even keratitis. At this time, parents can follow the steps below to deal with it:

1. Hold your baby's hands

The eyes will feel uncomfortable due to the invasion of foreign objects, and babies will inevitably rub their eyes with their hands, which may hurt the eyes. Therefore, when you suspect that your baby is rubbing his eyes because there is "dirt" in his eyes, you should first hold down his hands to stop him from rubbing his eyes.

2. Prepare boiling water and spoon

Quickly prepare a bowl of clean, cool boiled water (must be boiled tap water) or mineral water, and use a spoon to rinse your eyes.

3. Lean toward the injured side

Tilt the baby's head towards the injured eye. If the left eye is injured, tilt it to the left. Slowly rinse the injured eye with cool boiled water for about 5 minutes.

4. Close your eyes

When the discomfort eases a little, try closing your eyes and letting the tears flow out, allowing the foreign body to flow out of your eyes naturally with the tears.

5. Seek medical attention immediately

Since it is difficult for parents to judge whether the foreign body has been removed or whether there is any damage to the eyes, it is recommended that parents take their baby to the hospital for further examination immediately regardless of whether the foreign body has been removed or not.

What should be done if something gets into the baby’s eyes? A detailed introduction was given on what to do if a foreign object accidentally enters the baby's eyes. It must be treated in time, otherwise it will cause conjunctivitis or keratitis, etc. Some inflammations will also cause certain harm to the baby's cornea. Therefore, mothers must be careful to protect their babies.
