Treatment of pus discharge after umbilical cord shedding in newborns

Pus discharge after the umbilical cord falls off in newborns causes our children to suffer great physical torture at a young age. We have seen many friends' children around us suffer from pus discharge after the umbilical cord falls off. For this reason, parents have tried all kinds of ways to treat our children. This situation is a manifestation of abnormal function of some aspect of the child's body. We ourselves often experience this situation. Many people do not understand this situation very well, nor do they know the effective treatment methods. So what should we do in this situation? Blind treatment has disadvantages. Here we will introduce the treatment method for pus discharge after the umbilical cord of a newborn falls off.

Treatment:

1. The time when the umbilical cord falls off is related to the method of ligating the umbilical cord after the birth of the newborn. If the remaining end is very short, it will fall off quickly 3-4 days after birth. Otherwise, it will take 5-7 days to fall off. If it does not fall off for more than 7 days or even longer, you should go to the hospital for further examination and treatment. If the remaining umbilical cord becomes dry and black, you can gently wipe it with 95% alcohol and the dry black umbilical cord will fall off. If it still does not fall off, you should go to the hospital for treatment and never cut it blindly.

2. Before the umbilical cord falls off, keep it dry. After the newborn returns home from the hospital, unless there are special circumstances, such as no umbilical infection, you do not need to cover it with gauze. This will help the umbilical cord dry and fall off faster. Never cover the navel with wet clothes or diapers. If the covering gauze is wet, it must be replaced in time. When replacing, open the gauze and use a 75% alcohol cotton ball to gently scrub from the base of the umbilical cord to the surrounding skin. Do not rub back and forth to avoid bringing germs from the surrounding skin into the base of the navel and causing infection.

3. After the umbilical cord falls off, a layer of scab may remain on the navel, which will fall off naturally. Under normal circumstances, it is dry and does not require any further treatment. If the navel is wet or there is a little liquid oozing out, you can use a sterilized cotton swab dipped in 75% alcohol to gently wipe it clean, and then apply 75% alcohol to the base of the navel and the surrounding skin. Never apply gentian violet on the navel. Doing so will not only affect the observation of the umbilical infection, but also cause scabs to form on the surface of the navel, making it difficult for the purulent secretions underneath to be discharged, thereby aggravating the infection.

4. If you find white granulation growing on the navel, or purulent secretions on the navel and the surrounding skin is red and swollen, you should go to the hospital for treatment in time to prevent the condition from getting worse.

The above content introduces us to the treatment method of pus discharge after the umbilical cord falls off in newborns. Through the above understanding, we can dispel many unnecessary concerns, and we can also use the correct method to treat the phenomenon of white tongue coating in our children. We can do it in a timely and effective manner, so as to avoid the deterioration of the disease and restore our health as soon as possible.
