Can children eat bayberry?

In order to have a balanced nutrition for children, parents will let their babies eat more fresh fruits and vegetables. Bayberry is a good fruit. It is rich in vitamin C, amino acids, etc. It can promote salivation and quench thirst, clear away heat and detoxify. If babies eat it, it can supplement the body's nutrition. However, bayberry contains fruit acid, so it is not suitable for babies to eat too much, as it can easily irritate the stomach and intestines.

Can children eat bayberry?

Babies over one year old can eat some bayberry in moderation. Bayberry is rich in vitamins, protein, fat, pectin and 8 kinds of amino acids that are beneficial to the human body. Its calcium, phosphorus and iron content is more than 10 times higher than other fruits. It is also very beneficial for the baby's growth and development. In addition, bayberry contains a variety of organic acids, which can help promote the baby's appetite. In addition, the cellulose in bayberry pulp can stimulate intestinal peristalsis, which is beneficial to the excretion of harmful substances in the body and prevents the occurrence of constipation in babies.

Precautions for babies to eat bayberry

1. Since bayberry has no peel, it is easy for fruit fly larvae to appear. To prevent the baby from eating insects and pesticide residues, mothers should wash the bayberry carefully before feeding it to the baby. It is best to buy those that have just been picked because the time since picking is short and the chance of larvae appearing is small. Once stored for a few days, the eggs will hatch due to the rising temperature.

2. The core of bayberry is relatively large, so parents must watch over their babies when feeding them to prevent them from choking.

3. Bayberry tastes sour, so it is not advisable to feed your baby too much at one time. Remember to brush your baby's teeth after eating to prevent tooth decay.

How to clean bayberry

1. Soak in salt water. Put the purchased bayberries in a larger wide-mouthed bowl, then pour in enough water to cover all the bayberries, then pour salt into the water and soak the bayberries together. Salt water of sufficient concentration can drive away small insects. So, how much salt is needed to be effective? How long does it take to soak before you can eat bayberries without insects? If we pour one liter of water, we need to put in at least two spoons of salt (spoon: the spoon used by children to eat). The soaking time for bayberry is 20-30 minutes. You cannot eat it after soaking for a few minutes, as this will not have any effect. After soaking, filter it with clean water to wash away the dirt.

2. Fruit and vegetable cleaner: Fruit and vegetable cleaner is also a good way to sterilize and remove pesticides. However, fruit and vegetable cleaners inevitably contain chemical ingredients. Although they can neutralize pesticides for bayberry, they cannot avoid the fact that Chinese cleaners themselves contain substances that are harmful to the body. Therefore, when using fruit and vegetable cleaning agent, be sure to rinse the bayberry with clean water again.

3. Soak in clean water. If you don’t have other tools at home, you can soak the bayberries in ordinary clean water. Note that all the bayberries must be soaked in water. Then use your index finger to stir the bayberries in the water in the same direction. In this way, substances with higher density will run into the water. However, it should be noted that the stirring force should not be too strong and should not be stirred randomly to avoid damaging the skin of the bayberries, making them stale and unpalatable.

4. Baking soda: It is reported that it is easy to clean bayberry using starch solution or baking soda, but not every household has these two things. At this time, it is also possible to use flour solution to soak the bayberry. Similarly, soak all the bayberries in the flour, then stir them with your fingers to separate the dirt or large insects, then filter out the bayberries and rinse them with clean water.
