Nowadays, every child is the treasure of the family, so the health of the child has become the most concerning issue for parents. However, recently many parents have reported that their children suffer from sudden infant death syndrome, so parents are very worried, but there is no solution. So today we will introduce to you what sudden infant death syndrome is. What should we do when we encounter this situation? Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), also known as cradle death, refers to the sudden and unexpected death of a baby who appears to be completely healthy. The Second International SIDS Conference held in Seattle, North America in 1969 defined it as: sudden unexpected death of an infant, for which the cause of death cannot be determined even after an autopsy. Sudden infant death syndrome occurs between 2 weeks and 1 year old. The most common cause of death accounts for 30% of mortality in this age group. The incidence rate is generally 1‰ to 2‰, and its distribution is worldwide. It usually occurs in the middle of the night or early morning. Almost all deaths from sudden infant death syndrome occur while the infant is sleeping, which is common in autumn, winter and early spring. Causes After research, several of the factors include brain defects, immune system abnormalities, metabolic disorders, underdeveloped breathing regulation mechanisms or heartbeat disorders. 1. Environmental factors (1) Pregnancy-related factors Many of the factors that may increase the risk of SIDS are related to obstetrics, suggesting that the intrauterine environment of a woman who will develop SIDS is not optimal. SIDS children are usually born to multiple-birth mothers who are underage and whose last pregnancy was short. (2) Environmental studies on infant sleep have consistently shown that prone sleeping increases the risk of SIDS. (3) Smoking exposure: Parental smoking is the most important risk factor for SIDS. 2. Brain defects There is growing evidence that some babies who die from SIDS have abnormal or immature brain stems, the part of the brain that controls breathing and waking during sleep. Normally, babies are able to sense problems such as lack of oxygen and excess carbon dioxide, but when their brains develop abnormally, they may lack this protective mechanism. 3. Immune system defects Studies have shown that some babies who die from SIDS have immune systems that produce higher than normal levels of white blood cells and proteins. Some of these proteins interact with the brain to change heart and breathing rates during sleep or to put babies into a deep sleep. The above are some symptoms and simple treatments of sudden infant death syndrome introduced to us by professionals. Therefore, parents who are still troubled by this problem may wish to refer to the content above. Parents should also pay more attention to their children's physical condition. If a disease occurs, immediate treatment is needed, but medication should not be used blindly. I hope the above content can help you. |
