If the baby teeth are rotten, will the permanent teeth be fine?

Primary teeth are also the type of teeth that appear during early childhood and are the first type of teeth that appear in a child's development. All deciduous teeth will be replaced by permanent teeth over a period of time. Of course, many people believe that deciduous teeth have nothing to do with permanent teeth, and the quality of deciduous teeth will not affect permanent teeth. In fact, if the deciduous teeth are rotten, it will affect the permanent teeth, chewing function and pronunciation!

1. Impact on permanent teeth

On the one hand, because of tooth decay, food residues and other dirt in children's mouths are not easy to clean, and oral hygiene is poor. In other words, the entire mouth is an environment that is prone to tooth decay, so newly grown permanent teeth are prone to tooth decay. On the other hand, there is a permanent tooth growing under each deciduous tooth. When the deciduous teeth are ripe and fall off, the permanent teeth will erupt in the original position of the deciduous teeth. However, once the deciduous teeth are deeply decayed and cause inflammation of the underlying alveolar bone, it may affect the development of permanent teeth and cause deformities and poor development of permanent teeth after they erupt. It is also possible that the deciduous teeth fall out prematurely due to severe tooth decay, which will affect the eruption of permanent teeth in the future, causing the permanent teeth to fail to erupt, or to be unevenly arranged after eruption, etc.

2. Affect chewing

As the saying goes, good teeth mean a good appetite, and everything tastes delicious. A good set of deciduous teeth is very important for children to eat and absorb nutrition. Many children cannot eat properly because of tooth decay, which causes pain when they eat, or they lose their deciduous molars prematurely and can only swallow their meals whole. If things go on like this, children’s nutritional intake cannot be guaranteed, and insufficient chewing can easily lead to indigestion and gastrointestinal discomfort, and their happy childhood will lose the joy of eating.

3. Affecting the appearance

Children's laughter is the most innocent. However, if the front teeth are decayed, a mouth full of black and yellow teeth will be exposed when the child smiles. Children, especially those who are often teased for this, often dare not laugh. Over time, they will develop a sense of inferiority and lack of self-confidence, which will affect their mental health. In addition, children with unilateral tooth decay often do not dare to eat with the decayed teeth because of the pain. Over time, the bone development on that side will be affected, which may lead to asymmetrical facial development.

4. Affects pronunciation

Especially if the front teeth are lost prematurely due to decay, it will cause children to speak with slurred speech.
