What to do if your baby's ears itch

The baby's physical health is an issue that the family is very concerned about. The baby's disease resistance and digestion abilities are relatively poor, so the baby is vulnerable to diseases. We recommend that parents and friends pay attention to protecting the baby's body in daily life. Once the baby has any abnormal conditions, help the baby to deal with it in time. Below we will introduce to you what to do if the baby's ears are itchy.

The earwax produced by normal babies is mostly sticky; the formation of abnormal earwax may be caused by letting the baby drink milk while lying down or not properly handling it after bathing. Cleaning method: You can use the baby’s bath time to do it. Wipe your baby's external ear canal clean with a damp cloth. After bathing, insert a dry cotton swab into the baby's ear no more than 1 cm away and gently rotate it to absorb moisture and remove dirt. In some cases, earwax that is as hard as stone may require removal by a doctor to prevent chronic infection.

Once otitis media is discovered in infants and young children, it should be treated promptly. If acute suppurative otitis media is treated with antibiotics (such as penicillin) in a timely manner before the tympanic membrane perforates, the inflammation can be quickly controlled and perforation can be avoided. The treatment for those who have already had perforation is not complicated. Just clean out the pus thoroughly, apply antibiotic solution (ofloxacin ear drops), and then use effective antibiotics systemically, and the inflammation can be quickly controlled. However, the use of antibiotics must be continued for at least 3 to 7 days and must not be stopped prematurely. If acute suppurative otitis media is not treated thoroughly in the first treatment, it may turn into a chronic disease and easily recur. Whether otitis media is treated promptly and thoroughly has a lot to do with hearing. If treatment begins within one week of onset, only 6% of patients will have their hearing affected; if treatment is started three weeks later, 80% will have their hearing affected; for those who are completely cured the first time and never have a relapse, about 50% will have hearing loss; for those with recurrent inflammation, 50% will have hearing impairment. It can be seen that striving for a one-time cure at an early stage is the key to protecting hearing from damage.
