Treatment of tonsil suppuration in children

Treatment of tonsil suppuration in children

Babies are relatively fragile, and it is not easy to avoid being harassed by diseases, so some minor illnesses will still occur. Parents should not worry too much, but patiently understand the baby's condition and accept the doctor's treatment. What should we do if children have tonsillitis? Tonsils are located at the crossroads of the respiratory tract and digestive tract and are relatively sensitive. Let’s take a look at what to do if your baby’s tonsils are festering.

Drug treatment: Traditional drug treatment for acute tonsillitis generally uses antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drugs. The disadvantage of this local treatment method is that it only reduces inflammation but cannot eliminate the bacteria in the tonsillar crypts. Once the body's resistance is reduced, it is very easy to relapse, and chronic lesions will form over time.

Surgery: If tonsillitis is severe and recurring so often that it affects your child's overall health or interferes with your child's schooling, hearing, or breathing, your doctor may recommend surgical removal of the tonsils (tonsillectomy). However, most doctors would recommend this surgery only when there are no other options.

Children must be hospitalized for this surgery and receive general anesthesia during the operation. The risks of surgery are minimal and this procedure can solve the problem of tonsillitis once and for all.

Body resection can be considered only in children with the following conditions:

1. Recurrent attacks of purulent tonsillitis, abscesses around the tonsils, inflammation affecting adjacent organs, frequent otitis media and cervical lymphadenitis, cheesy secretions on the tonsils, and bad breath in children;

2. Enlarged tonsils hinder breathing, swallowing and pronunciation, causing snoring and restless sleep;

3. Chronic tonsillitis causes rheumatic fever, nephritis and other diseases;

4. Chronic tonsillitis causes long-term low fever, loss of appetite, and affects children's growth and development.

The above are several diagnosis and treatment options for tonsil suppuration. Parents can learn about them. They can still play a certain role in alleviating the baby's condition. If the situation is more serious, parents should not worry too much. Just calmly understand the doctor's advice and receive treatment. Parents should do more protective work, which is also more beneficial to the baby's health.
