What causes baby eczema?

Generally speaking, babies' skin is white, tender and elastic, making people want to kiss it. However, the skin of many babies is not like this. Especially due to various reasons, the baby's skin can easily become rough, or even red, itchy, and watery. These symptoms are clearly eczema. Therefore, many parents want to know what causes baby eczema.

In fact, there are many reasons for baby eczema. In addition to some congenital genetic factors, it is also closely related to the baby's clothes and even a bad living environment. Therefore, if you want to prevent the formation of baby eczema, you should understand in detail what causes baby eczema.

What causes baby eczema?

1. Trouble caused by milk protein: Some babies will have varying degrees of intolerance to milk protein, which often manifests as varying degrees of eczema. In severe cases, diarrhea or even bloody stools may occur. Cow's milk protein is the first and most common allergen that infants and young children are exposed to.

2. Genetic genes: Almost all health problems are ultimately attributed to genes, and eczema is no exception. Yes, eczema has a lot to do with genetics. Among allergic diseases, only eczema occurs in infancy. That is to say, if one of the parents has suffered from an allergic disease or has had eczema, the possibility of the baby developing eczema will greatly increase.

3. Bad environment and emotions: Environmental factors may also cause babies to suffer from eczema. Pollen, mites, dry air, etc. are closely related to the occurrence of baby eczema. Even emotional factors can affect eczema - if the baby is under long-term mental stress or in a bad mood, the eczema will worsen or even recur.

4. Baby's clothes and daily necessities: Woolen fabrics worn by babies, quilts with woolen fluff, pillows filled with animal plush, and dyes on clothes may all cause allergies in babies. In addition, if the baby is dressed too thickly, the clothes are too rough, the baby eats too much, or the room temperature is too high, the eczema may be aggravated.

5. Finally, a reminder to mothers: In fact, babies with eczema can also enjoy the fun of bathing. Bathing can help clean the baby's skin and keep the pores unobstructed. Using eczema medicine or moisturizer after the baby has a bath will make it easier to absorb and is beneficial to the recovery of eczema. The prerequisite is that you have to learn to bathe the baby correctly.

First of all, it is best not to use bath gel when taking a bath, just use clean water, because bath gel will dry out and irritate the skin, which can cause skin itching.

Secondly, control the water temperature. When bathing a baby with eczema, the water should not be too hot, because too high a water temperature will dehydrate the baby's skin faster. Just use warm water, preferably 38℃~39℃. Wash the baby's head first and then the whole body. Try to limit your baby's time in the water to 5 to 10 minutes. Finally, after bathing, use a soft towel to gently dry the skin, do not rub it hard, especially the damaged area, and then apply a thin layer of skin cream to keep the skin moisturized and relieve the symptoms of itching. If your doctor recommends using an ointment, follow his or her instructions.

Regarding what causes baby eczema, as parents, in addition to choosing clothes made of materials that are suitable for the baby's delicate skin, you also need to pay attention to keeping the indoor environment tidy and clean to avoid pollen, mites, etc. from harming the baby's skin. In addition, avoid allergens, such as milk, seafood, etc. Only by doing these can it help prevent the occurrence of the disease.
