What is the reason for children's continuous vomiting?

Parents will become flustered if their children vomit continuously and don’t know how to take care of their babies. In fact, they should take them to find out the cause of the disease as soon as possible. Most of them are caused by gastrointestinal diseases. They should be fed with easy-to-digest and light foods in their daily complementary foods. These semi-liquid foods will not irritate the gastrointestinal tract and cause nausea.

(A) Reflex vomiting

1. Throat irritation: such as smoking, severe coughing, nasopharyngeal inflammation or pus discharge, etc.

2. Gastric and duodenal diseases: acute and chronic gastroenteritis, peptic ulcer, functional dyspepsia, acute gastric dilatation or pyloric obstruction, duodenal congestion, etc.

3. Intestinal diseases: acute appendicitis, various types of intestinal obstruction, acute hemorrhagic necrotizing enteritis, abdominal allergic purpura, etc.

4. Hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases: acute hepatitis, cirrhosis, hepatic congestion, acute and chronic cholecystitis or pancreatitis, etc.

5. Peritoneal and mesenteric diseases: such as acute peritonitis.

6. Other diseases: such as renal and ureteral stones, acute pyelonephritis, acute pelvic inflammatory disease, ruptured ectopic pregnancy, etc. Nausea and vomiting may also occur in the early stages of acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, glaucoma, and refractive errors.

(ii) Central vomiting

1. Neurological diseases

(1) Intracranial infections, such as various encephalitis, meningitis, and brain abscess.

(2) Cerebrovascular diseases, such as cerebral hemorrhage, cerebral embolism, cerebral thrombosis, hypertensive encephalopathy and migraine.

(3) Craniocerebral injury, such as cerebral contusion or intracranial hematoma.

(4) Epilepsy, especially status epilepticus.

2. Systemic diseases: uremia, hepatic coma, diabetic ketoacidosis, hyperthyroid crisis, parathyroid crisis, adrenal insufficiency, hypoglycemia, hyponatremia and early pregnancy can all cause vomiting.

3. Drugs: Certain antibiotics, anticancer drugs, digitalis, morphine, etc. can cause vomiting by stimulating the vomiting center.

4. Poisoning: Poisoning by ethanol, heavy metals, carbon monoxide, organophosphorus pesticides, rat poison, etc. can all cause vomiting.

5. Mental factors: gastric neurosis, hysteria, anorexia nervosa, etc.

(III) Vestibular disorder vomiting

If vomiting is accompanied by hearing impairment, dizziness or other ear symptoms, vestibular vomiting should be considered. Common diseases include labyrinthitis, a common complication of suppurative otitis media; Meniere's disease, a sudden onset of rotational vertigo accompanied by nausea and vomiting; and motion sickness, which usually occurs when flying, traveling by ship or in a car.
