A three-year-old baby's sore throat is mostly caused by abnormal pharyngitis after the baby caught a cold. Usually, parents can let the baby drink more water and try to eat light food. Do not eat spicy or irritating food, and do not give the baby greasy food. Pay more attention to keeping the baby warm and do not let the baby catch a cold. If necessary, take the baby to the hospital for relevant examinations and treatment in time to avoid worsening of the condition. What to do if your baby has a sore throat due to a cold When a baby has a sore throat due to a cold, it is usually caused by a sore throat caused by a cold virus infection. When a child complains of a sore throat, congestion in the pharynx can be seen. The tonsils are red and swollen, with many follicles and even blood spots, and sometimes white membranous secretions can be found. Depending on the virus or bacteria that infects you, there may be different pathological changes (although the pain feels the same). In most cases, you can tell what type of virus or bacteria it is just by looking at it. Although acute pharyngitis and tonsillitis can be caused by viruses or bacteria, the most common cold is caused by viruses. This type of cold is often accompanied by symptoms such as fever, runny nose, and cough, but may also only present with a sore throat. So, what should you do if your baby has a sore throat due to a cold? When this happens, parents should try to prevent their children from drinking salty and acidic beverages, as these substances can easily irritate the throat and increase the pain. Mothers can give their babies some slightly cooled light tea or milk. During the 1-2 days when the child's throat is very sore, he or she may not want to eat solid food. At this time, parents should not force them too much, because it will not cause nutritional deficiencies in the child in a short period of time. In addition, drink small amounts of water several times a day to keep your throat moist. Preparations or beverages containing vitamin C are very beneficial for a swollen and sore throat. You can take small sips and let the liquid flow slowly through your throat. You can also gargle with vitamin C and chlorophyll plus sea salt (half a teaspoon in a cup of warm water) every few hours. Fresh fruit juice is the best drink, and honey and lemon can also protect the throat. Babies with sore throats can try the following two drinks: 1. Candied Dates and Licorice Soup Choose 8 candied dates and 6 grams of raw licorice. Add candied dates and raw licorice to 2 bowls of water, boil until 1 bowl of water remains, and remove the residue. Can be taken as a drink, 2 times daily. It can nourish the middle and replenish qi, moisten the lungs and relieve cough. It is suitable for chronic bronchitis cough, dry throat and sore throat, tuberculosis cough, etc. 2. Water chestnut and radish juice Use 500 grams each of water chestnuts and fresh radish. Peel the water chestnuts, wash and cut the fresh radish into pieces and put them into a juicer to blend the juice. Drink a few small cups of juice every day for 3-5 days. It can clear away heat, relieve sore throat, open up the voice and resolve phlegm. Suitable for symptoms such as sore throat, hoarseness, and red eyes. What to do if your baby has a cold and stuffy nose 1. Clean nasal secretions: You can use a soft cotton swab to gently roll out the nasal secretions. If the secretions are too hard, you can drop a little breast milk or clean water into it to soften it before rolling it out. 2. To relieve exterior symptoms and open up the orifices: squeeze about 50-100 ml of breast milk into a small bowl, take 1-2 scallions (with roots), wash them and put them into the milk, steam them in water for 5-10 minutes (you can smell the fragrance of scallions), take them out and let them cool, then feed them to the baby with a spoon. It has the effect of relieving exterior symptoms and opening up the orifices to treat colds and nasal congestion. 3. Cover the soles of the baby’s feet with ginger powder: When the baby has a stuffy nose in the early stage of a cold, you can put slightly hot ginger powder on the soles of the baby’s feet when the baby is sleeping at night. This can make the nose breathe smoothly and the cold heal faster. Method: Cut the ginger into shreds and fry in a dry pan until the ginger aroma comes out (it’s okay if it’s a little mushy). Put the fried shredded ginger into a small gauze bag and then stick the slightly hot gauze bag on the soles of the baby’s feet. (Be sure not to make the ginger too hot to avoid scalding your baby.) 4. Hot compress method: A stuffy nose may be caused by the baby's fontanelle being cold. Mothers can use a thick towel to place it on the radiator or wrap it around a container of boiling water to release heat. You can warm the baby's fontanelle for a while and continue to apply hot compress until the baby's forehead is sweating. If you cannot tell whether the baby's fontanelle is cold, you might as well give it a try. It will not harm the baby. |
