The child has a low-grade fever of more than 37 degrees

Although a person's normal body temperature is 37 degrees, in fact, our body temperature will change throughout the day. It may be the lowest in the morning and the highest in the evening. In addition, the temperature is different in different places where it is measured. The temperature of the mouth, armpits, etc. is different. If it is at 37 degrees, it may be the highest temperature. So what should I do if my child has a low fever of more than 37 degrees?

The normal basal body temperature of children is 36.9℃~37.5℃. Generally, when the body temperature exceeds the basal body temperature by more than 1°C, it is considered a fever. Among them, low fever refers to body temperature fluctuating around 38°C, and high fever refers to body temperature above 39°C. Continuous fever for more than two weeks is called long-term fever. The principle is that if the temperature is below 38.5 degrees, do not take antipyretic medicine or get antipyretic injections, and let the baby drink more water. Pay attention to whether the ambient temperature is too high. In the hot summer, the temperature is very high and the baby's ability to regulate its own body temperature is poor. When the mother holds the baby, the heat is not easy to dissipate, causing the body temperature to rise. However, this kind of fever usually does not last too long. Put the child in a cool place, fan him slightly, give him some cool fruit juice, or give him a warm bath, and the body temperature will return to normal after a few hours. In winter, if the indoor temperature is too high and the baby is wrapped too much, the baby's body temperature will also rise.

It is recommended to continue using physical cooling methods. Mix alcohol with water (ratio 1:2) and use cotton swabs to wipe your temples, palms, and soles of your feet. Rub for more than 30 minutes and the pain will slowly subside. Note: Antipyretic medicine must be taken when the temperature is around 38.5 degrees, and cannot be taken casually!

If the fever recurs for about two days and does not go down, the baby is in poor spirits and does not want to eat, it means that there is inflammation in the baby's body causing the fever and you should go to the hospital. If the fever recurs for more than two days, it is caused by inflammation of the upper respiratory tract. You can get it after two or three days of intravenous drip and a few days of medication at home.

If the body temperature is below 38.5 degrees, there is generally no need to take antipyretics. Fever is a protective reaction of the body. You can drink more water and observe. If the body temperature exceeds 38.5 degrees, you can take antipyretics appropriately and further find out the cause of the fever.
