What should I eat to cure diarrhea of a two and a half year old baby?

It is very common for a two-year-old baby to have diarrhea in daily life. The stomach and intestines of a two-year-old baby are generally very delicate. If the diet is improper or the baby grabs dirty things with his hands, if he likes to suck his fingers, it is easy to cause diarrhea. The causes of baby diarrhea are also very complicated. In addition to active treatment, parents must pay attention to the baby's hygiene and let the child develop good living habits.

1. Causes of diarrhea in 2-year-old babies

What should we do if our baby has diarrhea? Some parents think that the baby should be fasted to stop diarrhea. Before treatment, it is best to know the cause of diarrhea in a 2-year-old baby and then deal with it.

1. Lactose intolerance. The main carbohydrate in dairy products is lactose, which is digested by lactose-digesting enzyme. Without this enzyme, lactose cannot be digested. Some babies lack lactase or have diarrhea that damages the intestinal mucosal cells, resulting in a decreased ability to secrete lactase, which is usually called "secondary lactose intolerance." In addition, congenital lactose intolerance means that the baby is born without lactase, and drinking breast milk or cow's milk can cause obvious diarrhea. Drinking milk can cause symptoms such as diarrhea and bloating, which is collectively called lactose intolerance.

2. Viral infections: Any number of viruses, such as rotavirus, adenovirus, calicivirus and astrovirus, as well as influenza, can cause symptoms such as diarrhea and vomiting, abdominal pain, fever, chills and pain.

3. Antibiotics: If your baby develops diarrhea during or after antibiotic treatment, it may be related to the drugs used. While the drug kills the pathogenic bacteria, it also kills the beneficial bacteria in the intestines. You should talk to your doctor about your condition to see if other medications and treatments can be used. However, you cannot stop taking the prescribed medication without the doctor's consent.

4. Infant diarrhea: If your baby has loose stools many times a day, and the stool may contain undigested food or mucus and have a foul smell, it may be infant diarrhea. There is no clear reason for this, other than it could be due to the addition of new foods or other dietary changes. Your baby will continue to gain weight, grow and develop normally, and will soon outgrow this condition as he or she grows older.

2. What should a 2-year-old baby eat when he has diarrhea?
