Is it normal for babies to be breathing rapidly?

Newborn babies need a long period of sleep to ensure their physical development and growth, and it is common for babies to breathe rapidly while sleeping. Many parents don’t know whether this is normal or not. They don’t know whether they should wake up the baby or let the baby continue to sleep, and often find themselves at a loss. This is actually related to the fact that parents do not understand the basic common sense of babies. So, is it normal for babies to be breathing rapidly?

Because the respiratory center of the newborn is not yet fully developed, the breathing frequency will be irregular, sometimes fast, sometimes slow, sometimes deep, sometimes shallow. This phenomenon is particularly obvious after falling asleep and is normal. If the newborn has mild shortness of breath, parents do not need to worry; if the breathing is too rapid and obviously abnormal, it is necessary to go to the hospital for a comprehensive examination. In addition, the baby's breathing will be faster than usual when sleeping. When the baby becomes short of breath, try to keep the ventilation in the room and give the baby plenty of water to ensure that the baby can breathe smoothly when he is breathing rapidly.

Some babies have rapid breathing accompanied by pale complexion, difficulty breathing, and rapid heart rate. This may be due to poor fetal development in the early stages of pregnancy, or it may be related to genetics. You can go to the hospital for relevant examinations and diagnosis to ensure timely treatment.

How to prevent your baby from shortness of breath while sleeping

1. If your baby is breathing rapidly, it may be that there is something blocking his nose, so be sure to clean it up immediately.

2. Ensure indoor air circulation to create a comfortable space for the baby.

3. Keep the baby's body hydrated and give the baby more water; when sleeping, do not cover the baby with too thick a quilt or wear too many clothes.

4. Don’t let your baby sleep on his stomach. I believe no mother would be so willful as to let her baby have such a unique sleeping position.

5. Parents should learn more about nursing knowledge, especially what measures should be taken when the baby is sick.

6. When the baby has a cough and fever, he should eat small meals frequently, and pay attention to liquid, semi-liquid, nutritious, light and easily digestible foods.
