What to do if children have low hemoglobin

When many people go to the hospital to check their blood health, the doctor will check their hemoglobin levels. Because hemoglobin is a substance mainly present in the blood, its high and low changes can effectively reflect the problems existing in the human blood. Some children have low hemoglobin levels, which is a sign of anemia. So what should be done to solve the problem?

1. Treatment of low hemoglobin in children

1. The diet should be nutritionally balanced, the food must be diversified, the diet should be wide, and you should not be picky about food, otherwise anemia will be caused by the lack of certain nutrients. It should be nutritious and easy to digest. Diet should be regular and moderate, and overeating is strictly prohibited. Eat more iron-rich foods, such as pork liver, pig blood, lean meat, dairy products, beans, rice, apples, green leafy vegetables, etc. Drinking more tea can supplement folic acid and vitamin B12, which is beneficial for the treatment of megaloblastic anemia. However, people with iron deficiency anemia should not drink tea because drinking tea is not conducive to the body's absorption of iron supplements. Appropriate supplementation of acidic foods is beneficial to the absorption of iron. Avoid spicy, raw, cold and indigestible foods. You can usually take nourishing food therapy to nourish your body.

2. Supplement folic acid and vitamin Bl2

Insufficient intake or poor absorption of folic acid and vitamin B12 can lead to megaloblastic anemia. People with folic acid deficiency can take 10 mg of folic acid orally 3 times a day, or 30 mg intramuscularly once a day, until anemia and symptoms disappear completely;

For those who are deficient in vitamin B12, inject vitamin B12 intramuscularly once a day. After 2 weeks, inject twice a week. After the blood count returns to normal, inject once a month. Stop the medication after recovery.

3. Biotin therapy

Raw liver extract, 500 mg twice daily or injected once every two weeks. Consider taking an injection (but only under a physician's supervision) that contains all the ingredients needed to make red blood cells.

What are the causes of low hemoglobin?

1. Iron deficiency anemia is what we call anemia in daily life. It is caused by lack of iron in the diet. Inadequate iron intake directly affects hemoglobin production and therefore leads to major malfunctions in the production of hemoglobin molecules. This will undoubtedly cause low hemoglobin levels. Such as bloody hemorrhoids, heavy bleeding during childbirth, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, menorrhagia and other causes of excessive iron loss.

2. There are many reasons for low hemoglobin, and malnutrition is one of the most common factors. Many nutrient deficiencies will directly affect the amount of hemoglobin, such as iron and vitamin deficiencies (especially B12). This problem is most common in pregnant women, children, and women who are losing weight or have a poor diet (lack of iron, folic acid, vitamins, and minerals).

3. Hormone imbalance can also lead to low hemoglobin levels. Sometimes hypothyroidism can cause the body's metabolic rate to slow down, causing the patient to feel tired and drowsy, which is also an important factor.

4. Patients with spleen or pernicious anemia may have too many red blood cells destroyed, resulting in a decrease in hemoglobin levels.

5. Chronic diseases such as renal failure caused by long-term infection, cancer, Crohn's disease, etc. can also cause a decrease in hemoglobin levels. Other similar causes include intestinal infections and autoimmune diseases (such as systemic lupus erythematosus).

6. In addition, some drugs may have side effects on red blood cells, such as chemotherapy drugs or radiation therapy.
