One month old baby has yellow discharge from the ears

The organs of a newborn baby are not fully developed, especially in the first month. They must be carefully cared for and not be infected by viruses or bacteria. However, some parents find that one-month-old babies have yellow fluid flowing from their ears. What is going on? If yellow water discharge occurs, it is mostly because the baby has otitis media, which is related to a cold or water getting into the ears. Generally, the baby will cry and scratch his ears with his hands.

Yellow water discharge from baby's ears may be caused by otitis media

Yellow discharge from a baby's ears is often caused by pediatric otitis media, which is usually caused by a cold, bacterial infection, or various liquids entering the ears, such as bath water, dirty water, or milk.

If parents find that their baby is crying, irritable, scratching his ears, has a bad smell in his ears, and has yellow fluid flowing out of his ears, then they can make a preliminary diagnosis of otitis media in children.

In the early stages of otitis media in babies, mothers can try putting chloramphenicol eye drops in their ears, 1 or 2 drops a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. If there is no improvement in two or three days and the high fever persists, the baby must be sent to the hospital for treatment. The doctor will generally use antibiotics to treat inflammation.

Yellow discharge from baby's ears may be caused by eczema

If your baby suffers from eczema, especially ear eczema, then yellow discharge from the ears is one of the accompanying symptoms, and yellow scabs formed by ear eczema will generally appear.

In order to relieve the phenomenon of yellow discharge caused by eczema, the baby's eczema must be cured first. After the baby's eczema disappears, the phenomenon of yellow discharge from the ears will also disappear.

Yellow water discharge from baby's ears may be caused by external otitis

The external auditory canal has hair follicles just like other parts of the skin. When bacteria invade the hair follicles in the external auditory canal, it can cause otitis externa. When the mother is cleaning the baby's ears, or bathing or swimming the baby, bacteria have the opportunity to enter.

When a baby suffers from otitis externa, he or she is often accompanied by fever and crying. Older babies will complain of ear pain and will not want adults to touch the affected ear. They are also unwilling to sleep on the affected side for fear of pain from pressure. If the baby has a single or multiple abscesses in the external auditory canal, which will rupture and discharge pus, the mother should take the baby to see an ENT doctor.
