Is it normal for a newborn to sleep through the night?

Babies are the apple of their parents' eyes. Parents pay special attention to their babies in daily life. Especially for some financial parents, they pay attention to their babies in daily life. Sometimes they find that their newborns cry in their sleep, and they sleep all night without waking up. Many people worry that such symptoms are abnormal, because sleeping too long has a certain impact on people's bodies. So for newborns, is it normal to sleep all night? Or does it have a bad effect on their bodies?

1. Is it normal for newborns to sleep through the night?

How old a baby is capable of sleeping through the night is often inconsistent with how old he actually starts sleeping through the night. According to the latest research results, babies are able to sleep through the night between 2 and 4 months old. In fact, some babies can sleep for 6 to 8 hours at the age of 3 months, while some babies cannot sleep through the night after the age of 1. This depends largely on whether you have helped him develop good sleeping habits. If your baby relies on feeding or rocking to fall asleep, it will take him longer to sleep through the night.

2. How to let your baby fall asleep quietly

1. You should spend some time quietly with your baby before he goes to sleep. Being overly excited or overly tired before going to bed may cause difficulty falling asleep.

2. When the baby is half asleep, put him in the crib. Don't wait until your baby falls asleep before putting him to bed. Otherwise, when he wakes up in the middle of the night and finds that the situation is different from when he fell asleep, he may feel scared and surprised.

3. At the beginning, the child may cry and resist. If you cannot tolerate his crying, you can gently close the door, go in to see him after two or three minutes, and comfort him with gentle words. Repeat this several times, and each time you go back to see him, gradually extend the time from 3 minutes to 5 minutes, 7 minutes... until he falls asleep on his own.

It is recommended to cultivate good sleeping habits for your baby. Don't go to bed too late, don't play too excitedly before going to bed, and don't eat too much at night. Otherwise, it is easy to suffer from insomnia or sleep very late. Once the habit is formed, it is difficult to change. 6-8 hours of sleep a night is enough.
