Newborn baby shaking legs

Newborn baby shaking legs

Generally speaking, the shaking of a newborn's legs is a physiological phenomenon. Because the baby has just been born, its brain is not yet fully developed and its neural control is still in the development stage, which often causes the baby's legs to shake. Of course, if the newborn's legs are shaking severely, you should pay attention to it. This may be related to the child's calcium deficiency or brain development.

Newborn baby shaking legs

1. The brain development of newborn babies is still very imperfect, but the nerve centers and spinal cord responsible for movement below the cerebral cortex have reached a relatively complete level of function. Therefore, some movements of newborns are controlled by the subcortical centers instead of the cerebral cortex. Therefore, involuntary and purposeless shaking often occurs. This is a normal phenomenon and will not affect intellectual development. As you grow older and your brain continues to develop, this involuntary shaking will naturally decrease and eventually disappear, and be replaced by conscious, autonomous movements. Just like when you first start exercising and use heavy weights you will shake, as your strength increases you will be able to control your muscles better and will not shake anymore.

2. The symptom of the child's trembling legs is considered to be a manifestation of calcium deficiency. It is recommended to supplement the child with calcium after the child's intestinal function recovers (generally, breast milk can no longer meet the child's calcium needs for physical growth and development two months after birth, so it is recommended to supplement the child with calcium). The baby lacks trace elements. Minerals and trace elements are a kind of energy in the human body. They only account for a very small part of the whole body. However, they are also indispensable to the human body. Trace element testing can be done to supplement what is lacking, such as calcium, iron, zinc, selenium, etc.

Newborn care routine

Because newborns' intestines are not fully developed and the skin on their buttocks is delicate, they often have problems such as constipation, diarrhea, diaper rash, and red buttocks. Therefore, it is particularly important to know how to properly handle the urination and defecation of newborns.

Newborn stool: Newborn stool hides many little secrets of the baby's body. Parents can understand the baby's digestive status and adjust the child's diet in time by observing the nature of the baby's stool, the frequency of bowel movements, etc. Parents should be aware of their children's bowel movements every day, and pay attention to whether the stool has any abnormal color or special odor.

Baby diaper rash: Diaper rash is an inflammatory skin lesion that occurs in the diaper area, also known as baby red buttocks. It is characterized by redness and swelling of the skin in the contact area between the buttocks and the diaper, and may even cause ulcers, sores and infections. The slightest external force or friction can cause damage. If the disease continues to develop, exudate, epidermal desquamation, and superficial ulcers will appear. If not treated in time, it will develop into deeper ulcers or even bedsores.

Buttocks care: The baby's skin is delicate, especially the buttocks which are often wrapped in diapers, which can easily cause diaper rash. Protecting and caring for the baby's buttocks skin has become a compulsory course for new parents. The most important thing to care for your baby's buttocks is to change diapers frequently to keep the baby's buttocks dry.

Umbilical cord care: After the baby's umbilical cord is cut, the stump of the umbilical cord will gradually dry up, become thinner and turn black. Usually within 3-7 days after birth, the umbilical cord stump will gradually fall off. The umbilical cord ligation and cutting site is prone to infection. At the same time, the umbilical cord can directly reach the baby's blood vessels. Therefore, it is very important to care for the umbilical cord stump after the umbilical cord is cut.
