Why is the baby gagging?

In life, many babies are prone to vomiting. In fact, there are many reasons for babies to vomit. Because the gastrointestinal tract of babies is not particularly mature when they are young, they are prone to stomach problems. When they eat and feel uncomfortable, they are particularly prone to indigestion, bloating and other phenomena. These will cause babies to vomit. So what is the matter with babies vomiting?

Persistent retching may be a signal from your baby that he or she is unwell.

The phenomenon of dry retching in babies may occur from a few dozen days after birth to a few years old. Dr. Pang Chong, chief physician of the Department of Otolaryngology at the Capital Institute of Pediatrics, told everyone that occasional dry heaving is relatively normal, but if the dry heaving occurs more than four times a day or lasts for one or two weeks, then parents must be vigilant and it is best to take the child to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment.

Dr. Pang introduced that in recent years, there have been many cases of dry retching in children, which may be related to their normal diet. For example, the food you eat contains additives such as artificial colors, which irritate the throat and cause discomfort. However, there are two more common causes, one is chronic pharyngitis, the other is gastrointestinal diseases such as gastrointestinal diseases.

Many babies will also put their hands in their mouths. Dr. Pang said that babies who cannot speak yet will "tell" adults their discomfort in this way, and this discomfort may be a foreign body sensation. In addition, since children tend to lie flat when sleeping, the mucus in their nasal cavity is likely to flow into the throat, which may cause dry heaving. Cold air can also irritate the baby's throat and cause retching.

The baby has poor digestion. It is recommended that you feed the baby like this:

1. Drink more boiled water: Drink boiled water as soon as you wake up in the morning (because it can replenish the water lost at night, clean the intestines, eliminate waste, awaken the digestive system and restore overall function, clean the mouth, etc.! Mothers, don’t forget!), then drink milk half an hour later, and then drink a few sips of water after drinking milk (to dilute the milk and clean the mouth).

2. Drinking milk should be regular and intermittent (babies 0 to 1 month old: once every 2 hours, or 4 hours at night; babies 1 to 2 months old: once every 2 to 3 hours, or 3 to 5 hours at night; babies 2 to 4 months old: once every 3 to 4 hours, or 4 to 6 hours at night). This is because the baby's stomach and intestines are delicate and not fully developed, and they need to be fully emptied and rested to ensure the normal functioning of the digestion and absorption functions.

3 During the period, drink mainly boiled water and do not eat anything else. Replenish sufficient water to promote the improvement of digestion and absorption functions and eliminate waste and toxins in the body.

4 Breastfed babies: Mothers should eat light food, avoid seafood, avoid eating too cold or too hot food, and be selective with fruits, mainly neutral ones. They should also drink more boiled water. Pay attention to nipple hygiene and stop breastfeeding if the breast becomes inflamed.

5 Babies who are bottle-fed will have a weak digestive system due to incomplete nutrition (not as good as breast milk). You should observe the baby at all times and adjust the amount of food.
