5 and a half months old with bloody stool

After a child is born, his body is very weak and his various body functions are not yet perfect. He is very prone to illness and parents need to provide all-round protection for their children. By observing the baby's stool, you can understand the child's condition in time, take timely prevention measures, and thus provide timely treatment to ensure the child's healthy growth. So what if parents find that a five and a half month old child has a lot of blood in his stool?

First, exclude acute intussusception and acute necrotizing enterocolitis. Putting aside the analysis from a medical point of view, I personally think that it is unnecessary to go for a special examination to rule out the possibility of polyps. The disadvantages outweigh the advantages, and the child will suffer.

As for anal fissure, it is unlikely to become bloody. Basically there are a few drops of blood on the surface of the stool. Children who have diarrhea for a period of time may have a small amount of blood in their stool due to damage to the intestinal mucosa and rupture of capillaries caused by diarrhea. The diarrhea stopped and recovered after a period of time.

The main thing is to see whether the blood is mixed in the stool or on the surface of the stool. What does blood mixed in the stool look like? Is it brownish-black with no visible blood or is there obviously fresh blood mixed in? The number of bowel movements per day, whether the stool is formed, and whether there is mucus in the stool (this possibility is very small in a 5-month-old baby, but it cannot be ruled out). Does the baby cry or make noise during bowel movements? Is the abdomen harder than before? Does the baby cry when the abdomen is touched? If the abdomen is soft, can you feel a lump?

Whether the child still has fever, the amount of vomiting and urine, and the child's spirit are mainly used to determine whether the child is dehydrated. Children who often suffer from diarrhea should wash their buttocks clean, dry them, and apply powder after defecation. If there is redness, apply some comfrey oil on the surface. It is important to add complementary foods to a 5-month-old baby correctly and gradually. Sudden changes in a child's food may also cause diarrhea.
