What to do if your child gets chickenpox

Chickenpox is a skin disease that usually occurs in children. Everyone knows that what parents worry about most is their children's health. So, what should we do if our children get chickenpox? In fact, having chickenpox is a very normal thing. It depends on how well we treat and prevent it. Next, the editor will introduce this aspect in detail. I hope it will be helpful to everyone.

1. Children with chickenpox need to be isolated at home and not go to school, kindergarten or public places to avoid infecting others. They need to be isolated until all skin lesions are dry and scabbed. Children should be observed for three weeks after contact with a person with chickenpox.

2. The treatment principles of chickenpox are mainly symptomatic treatment, prevention of secondary infection and enhanced care. Pay attention to resting in bed more often, drink plenty of boiled water, eat light and easily digestible food, eat less fish, shrimp, crab, beef, mutton and other foods, avoid direct cold wind, and keep fresh air indoors. Underwear should be changed frequently, preferably made of soft pure cotton. The child's room, bedding, clothes and utensils can be disinfected by ultraviolet light, ventilation, exposure and boiling.

3. The skin of the child should be kept clean. Do not bathe too often, wash hands frequently, cut nails short, do not scratch the rash randomly, apply gentian violet to broken chickenpox, and apply calamine lotion to relieve itching. Smaller children can wear a pair of cotton and breathable homemade gloves to prevent infection from scratching the rash. When the herpes scabs form, do not pick off the scabs with your hands too early, let them fall off naturally, especially herpes on the face, otherwise it is easy to leave scars after healing.

4. Pay attention to the cleanliness of the oral mucosa, conjunctiva, and vaginal mucosa. The mouth can be rinsed with light salt water. For younger babies, the mouth can be cleaned with a cotton swab dipped in light salt water and the baby should drink more boiled water. If the child has oral ulcers, chloramphenicol cod liver oil or Yangyin Shengji Powder can be applied.

5. If the fever of chickenpox is below 38 degrees Celsius, no antipyretic medicine is needed. Drink more boiled water. If the body temperature reaches 38 degrees Celsius to 38.5 degrees Celsius or above, oral antipyretics can be taken. If the temperature is as high as 39 degrees Celsius or above, apply ice packs on the head to cool down. When systemic symptoms are obvious, vitamin B12 and isatis root can be given. When there is secondary infection, antibiotics can be added. Severe children can receive immunoglobulin injection.

The above is some of the content that the editor introduced to you about how to treat chickenpox in children. I hope it will be helpful to you. Generally speaking, children develop chickenpox because they are allergic to certain foods, or have eaten unhygienic or harmful foods. Parents should pay more attention to their baby’s food safety and ensure their baby’s nutrition is balanced.
