Heatstroke is very likely to occur in the summer, especially for those who work outdoors. If they are exposed to high temperatures for a long time, they are very likely to suffer from heatstroke. We know that heatstroke is more likely to occur in adults. Children's living environment is much better, but many parents still worry that their children will also suffer from heatstroke. So, can babies get heatstroke? Let’s take a look below.
1. When some babies are just born, their parents dress them in a lot of clothes to prevent them from catching a cold. This will reduce the water content in the children's bodies and cause a lack of salt. In severe cases, it can lead to collapse or even heatstroke. 2. When the weather is dry and hot, children may suffer from heatstroke if they consume too little water. 3. The child did strenuous exercise when the temperature was too high.
When the baby's body temperature (it is recommended to measure rectal temperature or ear temperature) exceeds 39 degrees and the following conditions occur, parents should be vigilant to prevent the baby from heatstroke. 1. The baby's body temperature is high and the skin color is reddish. 2. A more common situation is that the body is hot but sweating is less. 3. The baby will appear anxious, restless, noisy, and may even have rapid breathing and a strong pulse. 4. Some children become very tired and may have convulsions or pass out. 5. Older children may experience dizziness, nausea, confusion, and loss of consciousness.
1. Parents should not panic and place the baby in a cool and ventilated place such as under the shade of trees in time. 2. Let the child lie on his back or supinely, loosen the child's buttons or take off the child's clothes. If the child's clothes are wet due to excessive sweating, parents should help the child change into dry clothes and turn on the refrigeration appliances nearby to lower the temperature around the child, taking care not to direct the air vents towards the child. 3. Lower the baby's body temperature in time, at least below 38 degrees, by applying cold compress on the forehead or taking a warm bath. 4. After the child wakes up, parents can provide him with food, fruits and non-caffeinated beverages every 10 to 15 minutes, provided that there is no vomiting and the child is conscious. You can also use cold mung bean soup or an appropriate amount of salt water to relieve heat. 5. Pinch the child’s Ren Zhong, Nei Guan or He Gu points. If you can find an object with a needle tip, heat it over a fire to sterilize it, then use the needle tip to gently pierce the child's philtrum and squeeze out a drop of blood. If the child is sweating profusely and feels exhausted, these two methods can be used. 6. Send the child to the hospital for treatment in time. |
