What is Oral Thrush

In addition, some children who are malnourished, weak, have diarrhea, or are using antibiotics and corticosteroids for a long time are also susceptible to the disease.

How to treat thrush correctly

Drug treatment:

(1) Topical medication

Use 2% to 5% baking soda to clean the child's mouth, then grind nystatin into powder, mix it with cod liver oil drops, and apply it on the oral wound, once every 4 hours. After the child drinks milk, drop 1% gentian violet solution under the tongue, let the tongue move and coat the entire mouth. Generally, 2 to 3 times a day is appropriate.

(2) Systemic medication

If the child's symptoms are severe, antifungal drugs such as nystatin and clotrimazole can be taken orally, and the dosage must be based on the doctor's instructions.

(3) Improve nutrition

Increase the child's vitamin B2 and vitamin C intake appropriately. You can crush the vitamin tablets and take them with water, twice a day, 1 tablet each time.

How to care for babies with thrush

1. Pay attention to the cleanliness of the child's oral cavity and strengthen the child's personal hygiene.

2. Observe the condition of the child’s oral mucosa and tongue, especially the increase or decrease in the number of thrush and changes in the baby’s food intake.

3. If the child shows symptoms such as irritability, drooling, constipation, crying, difficulty swallowing and breathing, he should be sent to the hospital for treatment in time.

4. Pay close attention to the child's body temperature. If the temperature rises, send the child to the hospital immediately.

5. For children who use antibiotics for a long time, stop using antibiotics immediately and encourage the baby to drink more water and eat liquid or semi-liquid food in moderation. If your baby is unwilling to eat because of pain, you can feed him slowly with a spoon to ensure nutrition.
