Why is my baby's head swollen like a blister?

The genitals are very important to everyone. In life, we may neglect to take care of this aspect, which may lead to various problems with the genitals, such as inflammation, etc. This not only affects normal life, but also easily affects reproductive health, and may even make it impossible to have children. Well, some parents found that their baby's penis was swollen. What is the reason?

The penis head is swollen like a blister, which is the most common glans foreskin disease (foreskin edema, redness and swelling of the foreskin). Almost all patients have phimosis or prepuce that is too long.

Between the glans penis and the excessively long foreskin, a warm, moist bacterial culture medium is formed due to the desquamated epithelial cells, glandular secretions and smegma bacteria, which can cause inflammation once the bacteria enter. Inflammation of the glans penis and foreskin often exist at the same time, so they are collectively called balanoposthitis. The main cause of balanoposthitis is phimosis or excessive foreskin. In addition, unclean sexual intercourse, drug stimulation or allergies are also causes of the disease (foreskin edema, foreskin redness and swelling).

The symptoms of balanoposthitis are redness, swelling, pain, and itching of the glans penis and foreskin. Some parts may develop erosion and ulcers, and there will be yellow purulent secretions with a special odor. In severe cases, necrosis of the glans penis may occur. Some patients develop urethral adhesion and stenosis after the acute phase, causing difficulty in urination. Repeated infections can cause thickening of the glans penis or foreskin and the formation of white spots.

When taking certain drugs and having allergies, sometimes fixed edematous erythema of the foreskin may form on the glans penis or foreskin, with blisters in the center, which may cause infection after rupture. Symptoms usually occur within 24-36 hours after taking the medication, improve after stopping the medication, but reappear after taking the medication again. During the acute phase of balanoposthitis, the foreskin should be turned up, washed with 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution, and then applied with antibiotic ointment. If the foreskin cannot be turned up, incision and drainage should be performed. Oral or injectable antibiotics are needed in conjunction with topical treatment. Anti-allergic drugs should also be taken if allergies are caused by drugs.
