My baby has a fever but is in good spirits, what's going on?

I believe everyone knows about fever. It is a disease that is very easy to occur in people's daily lives. And because children have lower body resistance, they are more likely to suffer from fever. When a baby has a fever, he or she will usually experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and lack of energy. However, some babies may have a fever but be in good spirits. What is going on?

If a child has a fever, there is often no major change in his or her mental state. This is usually a symptom caused by an upper respiratory tract infection after catching a cold. You can first take Compound Paracetamol and Phenylacetate Granules and Bupleurum Granules for treatment. If the body temperature is above 38.5 degrees, you can take Motrin or Tylenol to reduce the fever. At the same time, drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration and electrolyte imbalance.

Respiratory tract infection Western medicine treatment

1. Symptomatic treatment. Appropriately choose the following medicines and therapies: oral quick-acting cold granules. For nasal congestion, 1% furacillin ephedrine nasal drops can be used. For sore throat, you can gargle with compound borax solution, Huasu tablets, Yinhuang lozenges or lysozyme tablets, etc. Mucosolvan is commonly used to relieve cough, and codeine syrup can be used for dry cough (for reference only, please ask your doctor for details).

2. If there is a bacterial infection, it can be treated with antibiotics.

3. Cool down and calm down. High fever can be treated with physical cooling, such as cold compresses on the head or oral paracetamol 10 to 15 mg/kg each time. Give antipyretics to those with high fever and irritability.

4. Nasal congestion. 0.5% ephedrine nasal drops can be used before meals or before bedtime. Before using the medicine, you should first clear the nasal secretions and drop 1 to 2 drops into each nostril each time. This can reduce congestion and swelling of the nasal mucosa, keep the respiratory tract unobstructed, and facilitate breathing and sucking (for reference only, please ask your doctor for details).

Respiratory tract infection treatment

Treatment with traditional Chinese medicine. For wind-cold, you can choose Jingfang Baidu Powder, Xiangsu Drink, etc.; for wind-heat, you can choose Yinqiao Powder, Sangju Drink, etc.

Causes of respiratory infections

Viral infections (35%):

70% to 80% of upper respiratory tract infections are caused by viruses. Including rhinovirus, coronavirus, adenovirus, influenza and parainfluenza virus, respiratory syncytial virus, echovirus, coxsackievirus, etc. Another 20% to 30% of upper respiratory tract infections are caused by bacteria. Bacterial infection can be direct infection or secondary to viral infection. Hemolytic streptococci are the most common, followed by Haemophilus influenzae, pneumococci, Staphylococci, etc., and occasionally Gram-negative bacteria.

External factors (30%):

Various factors that lead to a decrease in the systemic or local respiratory defense function, such as catching cold, getting caught in the rain, sudden climate changes, excessive fatigue, etc., can cause viruses or bacteria that already exist in the upper respiratory tract or invade from the outside to multiply rapidly, thereby inducing this disease. The elderly, the young, the infirm, the immunocompromised, or those with chronic respiratory diseases are more susceptible
