What are the dangers of squeezing out BCG suppuration?

BCG vaccination is something every parent needs to help their baby complete. Because only by getting such vaccines can we help babies prevent certain diseases. Of course, you must go to a regular medical institution to get the BCG vaccination, and never trust those medical institutions that have no qualifications. So, some parents are more confused about a question, what are the dangers of squeezing out BCG suppuration?

Can BCG be squeezed out after it becomes purulent?

1. BCG suppuration is a normal vaccination reaction. Generally, after vaccination with BCG, people with strong immunity will experience mild suppuration at the injection site, so suppuration with BCG is a normal phenomenon. If there is no suppuration, it means that the vaccination may not be successful and must be vaccinated again. If the vaccination is successful, suppuration will occur and form a scar.

2. About one to two weeks after the baby is vaccinated with BCG, small red nodules will appear locally, with an average diameter of about 10mm. They will gradually grow larger and will be slightly painful and itchy, but there will be no fever. Pus bubbles or ulcers will form in six to eight weeks, gradually softening into white pustules that can break open on their own with a diameter of 3-5mm. Scabs will begin to form in ten to twelve weeks, leaving a small reddish scar after the scab falls off, and the red color will gradually turn into skin color.

3. BCG suppuration generally does not require treatment. But pay attention to local cleaning to prevent secondary infection. Do not wear clothes that are too tight. If pus flows out, wipe it with sterile gauze or cotton. Do not squeeze it. It will heal and scab naturally in about two to three months. Wait for the scab to fall off naturally. Do not pick it off early. It generally does not affect the baby's health.

Time for BCG vaccination

1. BCG vaccination is usually given within 24 hours after the baby is born, and the vaccination site is the outer side of the deltoid muscle of the upper arm. The Ministry of Health of China stipulates that if a baby is under 3 months old and has not been vaccinated with BCG, he or she can get the booster shot directly; if the baby is between 3 months and 3 years old, a tuberculin test must be conducted, and the booster shot can be given if the result is negative; babies 4 years old and above do not need to get the booster shot.

2. It should be noted that babies should not come into contact with tuberculosis patients within 2-3 months after vaccination. If you find that the lymph nodes in the armpit of the arm on the same side as the baby's vaccination site are swollen, take the baby to the hospital for examination in time.

BCG can prevent serious types of TB, such as tuberculous meningitis and disseminated TB. Therefore, this vaccine must be administered. For the health of your baby, you must go to the hospital in time to vaccinate your child. Can the BCG pus be squeezed out? This question has been explained to you in the above content. The editor reiterates that if pus comes out, do not squeeze it out.
