What to do if your child has recurrent thrush

What to do if your child has recurrent thrush

Many breastfeeding infants are prone to thrush, a disease caused by a fungal infection. Thrush is very stubborn and prone to recurrence. Parents should treat their children as soon as possible after discovering that their children have thrush. Otherwise, it may cause breathing difficulties, swallowing pain, and in severe cases, refusal to eat, leading to malnutrition. What should I do if my child has recurring thrush? The most common treatment method is to grind the mycophenolate mofetil tablets into powder, mix well and apply it to the affected area. Of course, there are other methods that can also treat thrush well.

What is Oral Thrush

Oral thrush is a type of stomatitis. Stomatitis is an inflammation of the oral mucosa. This disease can occur throughout the year and mostly occurs in infants and young children. Stomatitis is mostly caused by fungi, bacteria, and viruses, and can cause malnutrition, acute infection, diarrhea, etc. Thrush, also known as snow mouth disease, is caused by Candida albicans. White milky substance will appear on the oral mucosa, in the shape of small dots, small blocks, and large flakes. It is not easy to wipe off. If the white substance is forcibly wiped off, local redness, swelling, roughness, flushing, bleeding, etc. will appear on the peeling mucosa. Children may experience difficulty breathing, vomiting, difficulty swallowing, hoarseness, etc.

What to do if thrush recurs

1. The first thing we need to know is that thrush is particularly prone to recurrence. Parents should know this, so parents should continue to take the medicine for a few days after the symptoms disappear, so as to consolidate the therapeutic effect, avoid recurrence, and prevent the child from suffering, and try to cure it once and for all. At the same time, the child should be given the medicine about thirty minutes after eating, so as to avoid giving the medicine too early and causing the child to vomit, which would have a poor effect.

2. We can buy mycotic tablets and grind them into powder, then mix them evenly with sesame oil or cod liver oil and apply them to the mouth. Use the medicine 4 times a day. Make sure not to drink water or milk after applying it. You will get better after a week of using the medicine. In order to avoid recurrence, you can use it for a few more days, consolidate it after it is completely cured, and prevent further suffering.

3. Thrush is mainly a disease caused by the growth of bacteria due to residual food in the mouth. Therefore, we must pay attention to daily oral hygiene and ensure that the bottles used by children every day are boiled and sterilized. Mothers should also wash their nipples and hands before feeding their children each time to prevent bacterial invasion. At the same time, supplement children with appropriate amounts of VB and VC.

Note: Repeated infection of thrush is mainly due to incomplete disinfection. Food utensils used by sick children must be sterilized by boiling or high pressure sterilization before they can be used again. This will help prevent thrush from getting infected again after medication treatment.
