What causes sore throat in children?

When children are young, if they often eat snacks or dry things, it is easy to cause sore throat. Many parents just unilaterally think that drinking more water will do the trick. In fact, this approach is a big misunderstanding, because there are many reasons for sore throat. Here, the editor will introduce to you why children have sore throats?

Sore throat can present as pain, roughness, and tingling in the throat (throat), often caused by a mild infection or local irritation. A sore throat is a mild condition that usually disappears within a day or two without treatment.

1. Possible problems: common pharyngitis

Symptoms: The throat looks red and swollen, which is usually caused by a weaker virus, so don't worry too much. It may be that the child has eaten too much cold food.

Nursing methods: Let your child drink more water and rest more. If you are worried, go to the hospital for examination.

2. Possible problems: tonsillitis

Symptoms: Caused by a streptococcal infection, this usually causes small white spots on your child's tonsils. Other complications include: fever, skin rash, lymph node redness and swelling, nausea, etc.

Nursing method: Take your child to see a doctor in time, antibiotic treatment may be needed.

3. Possible problems: Hand, foot and mouth disease

Symptoms: White sores or blisters appear on your baby's throat, mouth, and tongue.

Nursing methods: It is best to take your child to the hospital for examination and do not let him come into contact with other children to prevent infection.

Clinical manifestations:

(1) The onset is acute, with high fever as the main symptom. The body temperature can reach 39-40°C and last for 1-3 weeks.

(2) Sore throat. Physical examination may reveal that the pharyngeal tonsils are congested and swollen, and may even become suppurated.

(3) The anterior and posterior lymph nodes of the bilateral neck are enlarged but not tender and not adherent to each other.

(4) Splenomegaly is common and tender, and about 20% of children have hepatomegaly.

(5) Less than 10% of children have a rash, which is a measles-like rash or urticaria, and a small number of children have swollen eyelids.

I believe you all know the reasons why children have sore throats. If your child has this condition, it is best not to let him take some throat treatment medicines at will. Taking your child to see a doctor in time is the most correct choice. Let your child pay more attention to rest, talk less, and especially shouting is not advisable.
