Myelin deficiency in children

Myelin deficiency in children

Myelin dysplasia in children often affects the child's physical function and reaction ability. If we pay attention to children with this symptom, we will find that these children have a soft body, no vitality, slow reaction, usually not very active, and are not as good as other children in all aspects. For the sake of their children's health, parents must discover their children's myelin dysplasia as early as possible.

Delayed myelination is a myelin abnormality that usually affects the white matter. Myelination is the final stage of white matter development. Myelination begins in the fetus from the third to sixth month in utero, starting from the spinal nerve roots and spinal cord, and developing from the caudal to the cephalic side. At birth, there is already a considerable amount of myelin located in the brainstem, pontine arms, posterior limb of the internal capsule, and corona radiata of the centrum semiovale. Its maturation process mainly occurs after birth and continues until the age of 20, and the myelin sheath of the white matter of the brain is remodeled throughout life.

Abnormal phenomenon, children with myelin dysplasia generally have the following symptoms:

Symptom 1: Myelin hypoplasia, that is, white matter hypoplasia of the brain. The possible reason is that during the myelination process, due to the influence of genetic factors or a genetic enzyme defect, myelination formation is impaired, thus affecting the development of brain white matter.

Symptom 2: Children may show symptoms of developmental delay, convulsions, ataxia, nystagmus, optic atrophy, cortical blindness and sensorineural hearing loss, etc. Delayed myelination is a form of brain malformation that can lead to autism. You can take drugs such as cerebrolysin and ganglioside to promote brain recovery.

Symptom three: Tendon sheath is a symptom caused by incomplete development of the joints and joint connections. Timely self-conditioning and traditional Chinese medicine are related to insufficient qi and blood. A combination of Chinese and Western medicine can be used for conditioning. Local massage and timely self-regulation can be used, but treatment requires a process.

Precautions

Delayed myelin development is a manifestation of brain hypoplasia. It occurs due to respiratory distress and brain hypoxia at birth. It mainly emphasizes early comprehensive and systematic treatment. Patients can go to professional rehabilitation institutions for systematic rehabilitation treatment. The earlier the treatment, the better the prognosis.
