Newborn baby has a red spot on the face?

As we all know, babies' skin is very delicate, especially newborn babies. If there is a problem on the face, you cannot use medicine casually. Random use of medicine may not have a therapeutic effect and may also cause damage to the baby's skin. The red spots on the face of newborns are usually neonatal erythema, which is a very common phenomenon. Generally, parents do not need to treat it or worry about it. They just need to pay attention to observe the baby more often.

When a newborn baby has erythema on his face, parents should do the following:

1. Parents should strengthen the care of newborns and check whether the clothes they wear are soft, comfortable and less irritating.

2. Check whether the baby is wrapped too much. If the baby is wrapped too much, it will cause the blood vessels in the skin of the newborn to dilate, making erythema more likely to occur.

3. You can take the medicine under the guidance of a doctor. Usually, localized, non-developing erythema does not require systemic medication and can be treated with topical application of iodine tincture. If the erythema tends to expand or connect into a large area, the newborn can be given phenergan powder in addition to applying iodine.

It is normal for newborns to have red spots on their faces. Parents don’t need to worry too much. They will generally disappear on their own. If parents want to use medication, it is best to consult a professional doctor before using it.

Misconceptions about neonatal care

1. Let the newborn sit upright

This behavior is absolutely prohibited for newborns, because the spine of newborns is very fragile at this time. Forcing the spine to stand upright may even cause the spine to bend and deform. Only babies who are 3 months old can stand upright vertically.

2. Do yoga or martial arts for your baby

These intense movements will only cause harm to babies whose bones have not yet fully developed, and may also cause cerebral hemorrhage or retinal problems in babies.

3. Give your baby a cold bath in winter

Babies have poor body resistance. If they are washed directly with cold water, they may catch a cold and become sick. It is not recommended to give small babies cold baths in winter.

4. Rock the baby

Many adults like to rock their babies to help them sleep. In fact, the baby was shaken dizzy by you, not fallen asleep. Shaking a baby can easily damage the muscles and ligaments in their neck, and in severe cases it may even sprain the baby's neck. Moreover, the baby's brain tissue is as fragile as "tofu", and excessive and frequent shaking can cause cerebral hemorrhage. In addition, the base and inner surface of the baby's skull are relatively smooth, and the brain tissue is not very firmly fixed. It is easy to shake when subjected to strong external force, and the blood vessels connecting the surface of the brain to the veins under the skull will also shake. The shaking brain tissue can easily be "torn" by the sudden change of external force, causing emergencies such as subdural or subarachnoid hemorrhage.
