What to do if children's skin itches and bulges

When children's skin is itchy and swollen, we should pay attention to skin hygiene, avoid children scratching their skin with their hands and touching animal fur, etc., to avoid worsening skin infection. For the symptoms of itchy skin, we should use iodine to disinfect, and then apply antibiotics to inhibit the growth of bacteria. In addition, for recurring itchy skin, we should pay attention to it and understand which allergen is causing it.

Papular urticaria

Papular urticaria is an allergic disease that can be caused by contact with objects, food, infection, or insect bites. Some babies have recurring attacks.

Treatment method:

1. The treatment is mainly anti-allergic, which can be taken through oral medication or combined with topical medication. Such as taking loratadine orally and applying Lingbaowang ointment externally, etc.

2. Try to prevent children from scratching to avoid infection. You can apply calamine lotion externally to relieve itching.

3. If the baby has recurrent attacks, it is necessary to check for allergens. Only by eliminating or completely avoiding contact with allergens can the recurrence be reduced.

4. The diet should be light, eat more fruits and vegetables, and avoid spicy foods, fish and shrimp for the time being.

Allergic dermatitis in children

The possibility of allergic dermatitis is relatively high, which is mostly caused by mosquito bites or damp clothing. It is more likely to occur if you have pets at home. It manifests as small red bumps and itchy skin, which recur repeatedly.

Treatment method:

Hello, first of all, you should pay attention to personal hygiene, change clothes frequently, take a bath frequently, keep clothes clean and dry, if you have a pet, it is best not to let it touch, or give it to others, usually do not eat spicy food, avoid eating fish and shrimp food,

The medications you can take are loratadine tablets, dexamethasone tablets, and apply snake fat cream externally.

Pediatric eczema

Pediatric eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis (AD), also known as genetic allergic dermatitis and atopic dermatitis, is a chronic, recurrent, inflammatory skin disease. It usually occurs in infancy and continues into childhood and adulthood. The clinical characteristics are eczematous rash, accompanied by severe itching and recurrent attacks. The patients themselves or their families often have obvious "atopy", which seriously affects the quality of life. It is mainly caused by intolerance or allergy to ingested, inhaled or contacted substances. Children with eczema initially develop red skin and rashes, followed by roughness and flaking of the skin. Touching the child's skin feels like touching sandpaper. Heat and humidity can make eczema more obvious.

Treatment method:

1. Remove the cause

Parents should pay close attention to internal and external factors that may easily induce the disease, try to find possible pathogenic factors and eliminate them, actively cooperate with treatment, keep the skin clean, restore and maintain the skin barrier function, and insist on using moisturizing lotions as basic treatment. You can choose 5% to 10% Coptis chinensis ointment, compound snake fat ointment or other moisturizing creams for external application.

2. External treatment

According to the doctor's instructions, you can choose corticosteroid creams. You should choose hormone creams of different strengths according to the patient's age, skin lesion site, nature, and area, and pay attention to side effects;

3. Feeding and Diet

(1) Breastfeeding can reduce the severity of eczema. Protein-based complementary foods, such as eggs, fish, and shrimp, should be added later. Generally, children start adding them gradually from 4 months old. However, for children with eczema, it is recommended to add them 1 to 2 months later, and the speed of addition should be slower. Children’s diet should be as fresh as possible, and avoid letting them eat processed foods that contain gas, pigments, preservatives or stabilizers, or leavening agents.

(2) If you have found that certain foods cause eczema, you should try to avoid eating these foods again.

(3) Children who are allergic to milk can use amino acid milk powder or deep hydrolyzed protein milk for 6 months.

(4) Children who are allergic to eggs can eat egg yolks alone.

(5) For bottle-fed children suffering from eczema, boil the milk for a few minutes to reduce the allergenicity.

(6) Children should eat a light diet with less salt to avoid excessive fluid accumulation in the body which can lead to eczema.

4. Clothing

Underwear can be made of cotton material, all collars should preferably be made of cotton, and clothing should be loose, light and soft. It is best to use cotton bedding. Clothes, pillows, bedding, etc. should be changed frequently and kept dry. In daily care, do not use tight or warm clothing to avoid overheating and sweating. And let children avoid skin contact with allergens such as feathers, animal hair, pollen, chemical fiber, etc. Clothes and bedding should not contain irritating fibers, coarse fiber textiles, or products such as silk, wool, and chemical fibers.

5. Bathing and skin care

It is best to bathe with warm water, avoid using alkaline bath products with strong degreasing effects, and choose acidic bath products. Choose hypoallergenic or anti-allergenic skin care products, and it is best to perform skin sensitivity testing to understand the skin's reaction to the skin care products used and prevent allergies in a timely manner. Keep your nails trimmed regularly to avoid scratching your skin.

6. Environmental aspects

The room temperature should not be too high, otherwise it will aggravate the itching of eczema. Allergens should be minimized in the environment to reduce allergic reactions caused by irritation. Avoid exposure to tobacco.

7. Live a reasonable life

Keep your child's bowel movements smooth, get enough sleep, and do appropriate physical exercise.
