What should I pay attention to if my child often has nosebleeds?

In spring, many people are prone to nosebleeds. Sometimes they wake up to find blood on their pillows after a nap. Sometimes they suddenly have a nosebleed while working or studying. Many children also have nosebleeds frequently. If you only have an occasional nosebleed, it is actually nothing to worry about. It may be because the dry weather causes the nasal mucosa to be damaged and the capillaries to rupture, resulting in a nosebleed. However, if your child has frequent nosebleeds, it is best to go to the hospital for a check-up.

1. Causes of nosebleeds in children

1. With the arrival of spring, the Yang Qi in children's bodies also rises sharply. The blood surges with the Qi, rushing up to the nasopharynx and causing bleeding easily.

2. When winter turns to spring, children take off their thick clothes and hats and suddenly get the opportunity to play outdoors. They become very excited, which can easily cause nasal trauma and bleeding.

3. As spring arrives and the temperature gets warmer, the nasal blood vessels that have been constricted for too long in winter begin to dilate, causing dryness, itching and other discomforts in the nose, which will bleed if scratched slightly.

4. Spring is the epidemic season for febrile diseases such as influenza and measles. Fever may lead to secondary nasal and sinus infections, causing nosebleeds.

2. What should we do after nosebleed occurs?

1. First of all, parents should remain calm and comfort their children. Do not panic in front of their children, which will scare them, cause them to cry and become restless, and aggravate the bleeding.

2. Take some simple and easy methods to stop nosebleed as soon as possible.

① Acupressure method: first let the child sit down and lean forward slightly. Be sure to let your child breathe through his mouth and pinch the nostrils to close both nostrils for 10 minutes. The pinching and pressure should be continued for a full 10 minutes. It can usually stop mild nose bleeding.

② Packing method: use a sterile cotton ball with Yunnan Baiyao on it and stuff it into the nostrils, or use a hemostatic sponge to pack it. At this time, you need to pay attention to the pharynx. If there is blood flowing down from the pharynx, it means that the nose bleeding has not stopped.

③ Finger pricking method: use a rope to tightly tie the middle section of the middle finger. If the left nose is bleeding, prick the right hand; if the right nose is bleeding, prick the left hand; if both noses are bleeding, prick both hands at the same time.

④Daoyin method: soak both feet in warm water, or mash garlic and apply it to the soles of feet. If the right nose is bleeding, apply it to the left sole, and if the left nose is bleeding, apply it to the right sole.

3. Pay attention to prevention on a daily basis. Children with a history of nosebleeds, in addition to active physical exercise on a daily basis, should drink more water when the climate is dry, and apply a little oil in the nasal cavity to keep the nasal mucosa moist. Do not pick your nose or blow your nose hard.

3. What should children eat if they often have nosebleeds?

1. Rock sugar white fungus soup?

Take 10 grams of Tremella fuciformis, soak it in warm water for 30 minutes, then add rock sugar and water, boil until the Tremella fuciformis is cooked, then you can give it to your baby.

2. Lotus root and rock sugar drink

Take 200 grams of fresh lotus root and 500 grams of lotus seeds, remove the core, add water and boil for 20-30 minutes, then add appropriate amount of rock sugar or honey and feed it to the baby. It can stop nosebleeds and relieve heart heat.

3. Barley, yam and peanut porridge

Take 100 grams of coix seed, 50 grams of yam, 50 grams of peanuts, and 5 dates, wash them, add water and cook them into porridge for consumption. It can strengthen the spleen and stomach, nourish yin and blood. It is suitable for babies with spleen deficiency and frequent nosebleeds.
