Why does it happen when babies have milk curds when drinking formula?

Many babies often have curdled stools after eating milk powder. Curdled stools are caused by indigestion. You may consider whether the milk powder was not shaken evenly or too much milk powder was added. Curdled stools are not necessarily related to milk powder. It may also be caused by pathological or physiological factors.

What is milk curd?

When milk enters the stomach, it will immediately react with stomach acid. The protein rich in milk will denature in the acidic environment and form flocculent precipitation. When these flocs are spit out from the mouth or excreted from the body with feces, they become milk curds visible to the naked eye, which is the common baby spitting up milk curds or milk curds in feces. The solution to the problem of baby spitting up milk curds is to reduce or alleviate the baby's spitting up of milk.

Physiological milk regurgitation

Physiological regurgitation is caused by the baby's physiological structure and is a developmental problem that will improve and ease as the baby grows. Generally speaking, male babies are more likely to experience physiological regurgitation than female babies. Physiological regurgitation usually subsides gradually after the baby is 4-6 months old.

In the case of physiological milk regurgitation, the mother should hold the baby upright and pat his back gently after each feeding, allowing the baby to burp 1-3 times to expel the air swallowed along with the milk, and then let the baby lie on the bed in a side-lying position.

Disease-related milk spilling

If your baby vomits a lot or frequently, it may mean that the baby has allergies, colic, intestinal gas or other digestive tract diseases, and parents need to pay attention to it.
