Baby care tips for new mothers

Whenever a new life comes, what follows is not only joy but also tension. Because new mothers don’t know where to start when facing a baby, many people feel that caring for a baby is not an easy task. In fact, caring for a baby still requires some skills, and there are different methods for different parts of the baby's body. Tips on caring for babies can be found in the following areas:

1. Newborn skin care: Newborns do not need soap. Soap is a degreaser, and a newborn's skin is delicate. Newborns need to retain all of their natural oils, so wash with water only until 6 weeks old. After 6 weeks, soap can be used. Mom may want to try a special liquid soap that can be added to the bath water without rinsing. Be sure to scrub all the creases well with your soapy fingers and then rinse thoroughly. Dry your skin thoroughly; wet wrinkles are more susceptible to irritation and never use baby powder.

2. Care for newborn eyes: When cleaning the eyes of a newborn, first wet a few cotton balls in water, then squeeze out the water. Use a new cotton ball for each closed eye, wiping from the inner corner of the eye to the outer corner of the eye.

3. Care of the newborn's ears and nose: The nose and ears are organs with self-cleaning functions, so mothers should not try to stuff anything in them or interfere with them in any way. Putting cotton ball-sized objects in your nostrils or ears will only push what's already there further in. It is much better to let the contents fall out naturally.

4. Care of the newborn's belly button: The umbilical cord will be clamped and cut immediately after the baby is born, leaving only 5-8 cm of the root. After a few days, the umbilical cord will dry up and then fall off. Mothers can gently wipe the umbilical cord area with 0.2%-0.5% polyvinyl alcohol ether iodine solution every day, and then cover it with sterile gauze. Try to keep the area ventilated as much as possible, as this will help speed up contraction and healing. If any abnormal situation occurs, consult a doctor immediately.
