Eczema is a common allergic, non-infectious, allergic epidermal inflammation. It is very common in babies due to lifestyle, diet, climate and other reasons. According to statistics, almost one half of babies will suffer from eczema. By learning these tips, mothers can easily deal with their baby's eczema problem. 1. Factors that trigger baby eczema There are many factors that may cause eczema in babies: In terms of diet, there may be physical problems and you may have eaten some allergens, such as beef, mutton, fish, shrimp, eggs, milk and other high-protein foods. In terms of climate, some factors such as sunlight, ultraviolet rays, and large temperature differences can irritate the skin. It is caused by daily contact, use of alkaline soaps to which the body is sensitive, contact with woolen clothes, etc. Mechanical friction, such as saliva and overflowing milk, often irritates the skin; in terms of feeding, such as over-nutrition and adding too many types of complementary foods, leading to gastrointestinal dysfunction; in addition, if there is a history of allergic rhinitis, ichthyosis or asthma in the family, the incidence of eczema is higher. 2. Eczema is not scary, what is scary is not knowing how to take care of it First of all, the care methods are different for different types of infant eczema. Common types of infant eczema include the following: (1) Dry type It usually occurs in thin children aged 6 months to 1 year, and is prone to occur on the scalp, between the eyebrows, and other parts of the body. It can also grow on the limbs and the outside of the trunk. The skin is red and swollen, with patchy, densely packed small papules, accompanied by scaly crusts and hard, bran-like desquamation, without exudation. Because it causes paroxysmal and severe itching, it can cause babies to sleep restlessly and cry. When it turns into a chronic condition, long-term scratching will cause scratches, cracks or blood scabs on the skin surface, resulting in mild infiltration and hypertrophy. (2) Exudative type The exudative type is more common in obese infants aged 3-6 months. Symmetrical rice-sized red papules can be seen on both cheeks, accompanied by erythema and, connected into flakes. The blisters will break, ooze, and form crusts. When the itching is severe, there will be bloody scratches, resulting in bright red, wet and sore surfaces. In severe cases, it can spread to the entire face or body. If there is secondary infection, pustules, local lymph node enlargement and fever may be seen. (3) Seborrheic type Most patients with this type of infant eczema are infants under 3 months old, and the disease often occurs on the cheeks, forehead, and between the eyebrows. Symptoms include flushed skin covered with yellow greasy scabs with yellow serous fluid on top of the scabs. It then spreads to the back of the neck, under the chin, armpits and groin, showing symptoms of redness, intertrigo and exudation. It can be cured by changing diet for 6 months. 3. For the above types of infant eczema, we recommend the following care methods: ① Strive for exclusive breastfeeding. Before breastfeeding is established, never feed formula or fresh milk. Even only 30 ml can sow the seeds for future allergies. Because this 30 ml enters the child's body as an antigen, which is enough for him to produce corresponding antibodies. When he comes into contact with milk again, the antigen-antibody reaction will cause allergies. ② Adding egg yolks, fish, shrimp and other allergenic foods to children with eczema should be postponed appropriately, and can be postponed to 7 or 8 months, or even after 1 year old. ③ Avoid overheated environments, wear a hat when going out, and wear long-sleeved clothes to avoid direct exposure to sunlight and ultraviolet rays. ④ Choose pure cotton underwear, and use neutral low-phosphorus detergent for laundry and diapers. Be sure to rinse thoroughly after washing to minimize the irritation of residual detergent to baby's skin. ⑤ When taking a bath or washing your face, use warm water and avoid using bath gel and soap to irritate the skin. ⑥ Be careful not to let your child scratch the affected area to avoid infection. It is particularly important to wash your child’s hands and cut his nails frequently. Through the above introduction, everyone is very clear about the types and care methods of infant eczema. If a young child suffers from eczema, it must be treated effectively in time. Because the baby's skin is relatively delicate, if it is not properly cared for, it will cause harm to the body, so parents should pay more attention. 4. Baby health tips: The key to treating and preventing baby eczema is moisturizing. You can choose some organic moisturizer (you can visit our Qianhai Happy Shopping Mall if necessary). After taking a bath and wiping off the water droplets, apply it to the baby while the skin is still wet. In general, children with eczema should eat a diet that is easily digestible and does not interfere with the stomach and intestines. Their bowel movements should be smooth every day. They should avoid eating spicy, irritating, fishy and wind-inducing foods such as seafood, milk, eggs, etc. Commonly used medicinal foods that strengthen the spleen and remove dampness, such as winter melon and lotus seed soup, mung bean and red bean soup, have a good preventive effect on eczema. River products such as lotus seeds, lotus roots, lotus leaves, water chestnuts, etc. are also good for the skin. |
