What’s wrong with my child’s swollen eyes?

Swollen eyes are a symptom that can occur in both adults and children. There are many reasons for swollen eyes. Swollen eyes in adults may be due to work reasons, but what is going on with swollen eyes in children? Generally speaking, there are many factors to consider when a child has swollen eyes.

1. Poor sleep. If you stay up late at night (watching TV, surfing the Internet all night, etc.), you will have less sleep time, and your eyes will be swollen when you get up in the morning. Some people will feel pain and swelling in their eyes. Another example is that some people are nervous and can't sleep well at night (that is, we often say that they sleep frequently), and they may also have swollen eyes when they get up in the morning.

2. It is related to the sleeping posture. For example, some children occasionally do not use pillows, and their eyes may be swollen after sleeping for a night. However, some children never use pillows when sleeping, and their eyes will not be swollen. This may be related to personal habits.

3. Related to drinking water. Some children drink a lot of water before going to bed, so they will have swollen eyes in the morning, which will disappear during the day. The above eye swelling is normal, so if it is clearly caused by these reasons, don't worry. Eye swelling related to diseases mainly includes: skin disease, heart and kidney dysfunction, and angioedema. It is recommended to go to the hospital for an eye examination and timely treatment after diagnosis.

4. Spleen and stomach dysfunction. Since the baby's circulatory system has not yet developed safely, and the baby's food during infancy, whether breastfed or supplemented with complementary food, is mainly liquid food, it is easy to cause moisture to accumulate in the baby's stomach and intestines, causing the baby's eyes to swollen. If the baby has already started to eat complementary foods, then mom and dad can choose to give the baby some complementary foods that are diuretic and spleen-strengthening.
