What is the effective treatment for sinusitis in children?

When children suffer from sinusitis, we must first understand whether it is acute sinusitis or chronic sinusitis. For acute sinusitis, antibiotics can be used to control infection and some anti-allergic drugs. For chronic sinusitis, more attention should be paid to physical conditioning, and surgical treatment is not recommended.

1. Treatment of acute sinusitis

Adequate systemic antibiotics should be used as early as possible to control infection and anti-allergic reactions. Apply nasal mucosa astringents (Biyanjing is prohibited) and glucocorticoids topically to the nasal cavity to facilitate ventilation and drainage of the nasal cavity and sinuses. In addition, attention should be paid to rest and nutritious and easily digestible food. If there are complications, they should be treated simultaneously.

2. Treatment of chronic sinusitis

In addition to general treatment, sinus replacement can also be considered, which is more effective for patients with ethmoid sinusitis and pansinusitis. It can also be supplemented with physical therapy. People with atopic constitution can be combined with anti-allergic therapy. For older children with chronic maxillary sinusitis, maxillary sinus puncture and irrigation can also be considered. After irrigation, antibiotic solution can be injected into the sinus cavity. Considering that most children with chronic maxillary sinusitis may be related to local immune deficiency, a mixture of 0.2%-0.5% levamisole and antibiotics can also be injected into the sinus cavity. Children with sinusitis can usually recover after proper treatment, and surgery is generally not required.

3. Disease Prevention

1. Treat colds promptly, and treat recurrent tonsillitis thoroughly.

2. Washing your face with cold water in the morning can effectively enhance the disease resistance of the nasal mucosa.

3. You can massage your nose regularly.

4. Pay attention to the method of blowing your nose. If you have a stuffy nose and a lot of mucus, you should press one nostril and blow your nose out with a little force. Then blow alternately. When the nasal mucus is too thick, wash the nose with salt water to avoid damaging the nasal mucosa.

5. During the cold epidemic, wear a mask when going out, avoid public gatherings, go to public places as little as possible, isolate those who are sick, and use white vinegar to fumigate the contaminated indoor air for disinfection.
