What is the cause of ocular myasthenia gravis in children?

The most common symptoms of myasthenia in children are ptosis, diplopia and fixed eyeballs. Sometimes, in severe cases, one side may be significantly lower than the normal position, making it impossible to open the eye. So what causes this?

1. Congenital deficiency. Due to the mother's weak body or improper care during pregnancy, the growth and development of the fetus are affected, the fetal endowment is insufficient, and the kidney essence is deficient. The kidneys store essence and control bones. If the kidney essence is insufficient, it will be unable to nourish the bones and muscles of the whole body, thus causing illness.

2. Malnutrition after birth. Children's spleen is often insufficient. If they are not fed properly, it is more likely to damage the spleen and stomach, resulting in a lack of Qi and blood, and insufficient tendons, bones and muscles, which can lead to illness.

Key to pathogenesis

The key to the pathogenesis lies in spleen deficiency and qi deficiency, combined with liver and kidney deficiency. The spleen is weak, the clear yang cannot rise, and there is no ability to lift the eyelids, so the upper eyelid droops. The spleen is the foundation of the acquired constitution and the source of the production of qi and blood. If the spleen is weak, it is unable to nourish the innate constitution and the disease will affect the liver and kidneys. If the liver and kidneys are deficient, the essence and blood will be deficient, and the eyes will not be nourished, so eyelid atrophy is often accompanied by diplopia and strabismus.
