Mydriasis treatment for children is very effective

Mydriasis treatment for children is very effective

Children's eye health is very important. If a child has dilated pupils, parents must take their children for professional examinations to understand the eye problems and find solutions as soon as possible, because the longer these symptoms are delayed, the more difficult they will be to treat.

1. Children under the age of 12 need to have their pupils dilated for eye examination. Correct results will help them wear glasses. Mydriasis is caused by dilated pupils, which are afraid of strong light such as sunlight and lamplight. Some people have dry mouth, red face and increased body temperature.

Guidance:

It is necessary to consult the attending physician further to clarify the purpose of diagnosis and treatment and decide the next treatment plan based on the condition. Ask clearly and listen carefully

2. The main consideration is the correction of vision, which can be relieved by massage.

Guidance:

It is suggested that you can do eye massage and combine it with acupuncture treatment, which is very effective. You can also drink some chrysanthemum tea, which can improve eyesight.

3. For those who have refractive errors (such as myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, etc.), it is recommended to undergo mydriasis refraction. Parents believe that mydriasis refraction is harmful to their children's eyes, but this is actually wrong. Mydriatic optometry is also called objective optometry. It is to use mydriatic drugs to dilate the pupil before optometry, completely paralyze the ciliary muscle, and eliminate the pupil's response to light. Then retinal retinoscopy or computer optometry is performed. The eyes of teenagers have stronger accommodative power. If the pupil is not dilated during eye examination, the accommodative effect of the ciliary muscle can make the lens convex and the refractive power stronger. The accommodative myopia, the so-called pseudomyopia component, cannot be removed, which affects the accuracy of the results. Therefore, mydriasis refraction is very necessary for young myopic patients.

4. Mydriasis itself will not cause adverse effects on children. However, after mydriasis, there may be temporary photophobia and blurred vision of near objects (it will not affect distant vision and you can still live a normal life). The time to return to normal varies depending on the different mydriatic drugs. Tropicamide generally returns to normal within 4 to 6 hours, homatropine takes 3 days, and atropine takes about 2 to 3 weeks to recover on its own after mydriasis, and it is harmless to the eyes. After mydriasis, you should avoid strong light stimulation and wear a hat or sunglasses to avoid light when outdoors in the sun; you should also avoid using your eyes at close range and avoid watching TV, computers, and mobile phones; if very few children experience symptoms such as facial flushing, thirst, fever, headache, nausea and vomiting, hallucinations, excitement, etc. after mydriasis, you should stop the medication immediately or consult an ophthalmologist.
