The time to return to normal varies depending on the different mydriatic drugs. Tropicamide generally returns to normal within 4 to 6 hours, homatropine takes 3 days, and atropine takes about 2 to 3 weeks to recover on its own after mydriasis, and it is harmless to the eyes. After mydriasis, you should avoid strong light stimulation and wear a hat or sunglasses to avoid light when outdoors in the sun; you should also avoid using your eyes at close range and avoid watching TV, computers, and mobile phones; if very few children experience symptoms such as facial flushing, thirst, fever, headache, nausea and vomiting, hallucinations, excitement, etc. after mydriasis, you should stop the medication immediately or consult an ophthalmologist.
