What causes pneumonia in children? Three reasons to keep in mind

Pediatric pneumonia is a disease that is easy to occur in all seasons, especially in spring and winter. Children under three years old are extremely susceptible to infection due to their low immunity. If not diagnosed and treated in time or not thoroughly, it will cause recurrence. So what exactly causes pediatric pneumonia?

1. Bacterial infection (30%):

Before birth, the fetus lives in a uterus filled with amniotic fluid. If hypoxia occurs (such as umbilical cord around the neck, fetal heart rate changes, abnormal fetal movements), the fetus will inhale amniotic fluid during respiratory movements, causing aspiration pneumonia. If the membranes rupture prematurely, labor is prolonged, or during delivery, inhalation of bacteria-contaminated amniotic fluid or birth canal secretions can easily cause bacterial pneumonia. If the amniotic fluid is contaminated with meconium and inhaled into the lungs, it will cause meconium aspiration pneumonia.

2. Blood infection (20%):

If the child comes into contact with someone who is infected (for example, someone with a cold), the child can easily be infected and develop pneumonia. Newborns can be infected with pneumonia through the blood circulation due to sepsis, omphalitis, or enteritis. This infection can be caused by bacteria, and in older newborns, pneumonia can also be caused by viruses and other microorganisms.

3. Environmental factors (10%):

Such as sudden changes in climate, poor ventilation in the room, polluted air, etc.
