What to check for short height in children

Childhood is the period of fastest growth for humans, so parents at this time must pay attention to their children's physical growth. If you find that your child's height growth is obviously much shorter than that of people of the same age, you should take your child to the hospital in time to check whether there is a lack of certain elements in the body. At the same time, short stature in children may also be the result of rickets, so when examining children for short stature, which department should we consult?

Which subject can determine if a child is short?

1. Endocrinology Department. When you enter the hospital, the doctor will first ask about your child’s medical history or family medical history. Secondly, the child needs to undergo a simple physical examination, such as measuring height and weight. Routine examinations include liver function, kidney function, blood and urine routine tests, blood gas analysis, blood electrolytes, and thyroid hormone testing.

2. Caused by abnormal endocrine hormone secretion, including insufficient secretion of pituitary growth hormone, hypothyroidism, precocious puberty, excessive secretion of adrenal cortex hormone, etc. Dwarfism is caused by bone dysplasia, including chondrodystrophy and osteogenesis imperfecta.

How to promote children's height growth

1. The first thing is the nutrition issue of children. They should eat less snacks and make sure to have three meals a day, especially breakfast. Feed your children foods rich in protein, minerals, vitamins and other nutrients such as eggs, milk, fish, soybeans, carrots, spinach, etc.

2. In addition to nutrition, sleep is also very important. Don’t let your children sleep too late at night. They must go to bed before ten o’clock. Because the body's growth hormone begins to be secreted after 10 o'clock, the process of deep sleep can help the child's body secrete growth hormone, which helps the child grow taller.

It takes time for children to grow taller, and adequate nutrition and sufficient sleep are also essential conditions for children to grow taller. Only by allowing children to get more nutrition and absorbing it into their bodies during sleep can we promote their growth. Children generally like to play, so they should replenish vitamins and water in time after returning home from playing.
