What is precocious puberty?

Perhaps the name of precocious puberty is unfamiliar to most people. Perhaps it is a very confusing question for many parents who are troubled by their children suffering from precocious puberty. What is precocious puberty? This refers to the fact that children may suffer from precocious puberty due to excessive hormones due to exposure to some bad diets or snacks. So what is precocious puberty?

What are the symptoms of precocious puberty in girls?

1. It is very easy to cause psychological barriers to children. Although children with precocious puberty develop their sexual characteristics earlier, their psychological and intellectual development level is still at the actual age level. The premature appearance of sexual characteristics and development of reproductive organs can cause psychological disorders in children. In particular, seeing that their own sexual traits are different from those of people around them can easily cause children to have inferiority complex. This kind of mentality is likely to leave sequelae in their adulthood.

2. Distract the children and affect their study. It should be said that the appearance of sexual characteristics and the development of reproductive organs will definitely distract children, especially girls. Early menstruation often makes them feel uneasy, shy and nervous. At the same time, girls' bodies develop too early and they are unable to deal with the impact of menstruation on their lives. In addition, the imbalance in physical and psychological development also brings many inconveniences to their lives, which is bound to affect children's reading and learning.

3. Affect the height of the child, causing him or her to be shorter than his or her peers. Children with precocious puberty often experience accelerated bone growth, making them appear taller than other children of the same age. In fact, this is only a temporary phenomenon. Due to the early stimulation of sex hormones, the closure of the epiphysis will be greatly advanced, and the growth period will be shortened accordingly. That is, the long bone shaft and epiphysis will close prematurely and stop growing. Generally speaking, girls can only grow about 5 cm on average within 3 years after their menarche and boys can only grow about 5 cm on average within 3 years after their first nocturnal emission. Therefore, children with precocious puberty will eventually be shorter than their peers.

4. It may cause systemic endocrine disorders in children. We know that precocious puberty itself is an endocrine disease, but there are individual differences in the degree of endocrine disorders among children, that is, there are differences in severity and urgency. Children with mild symptoms mainly show an imbalance in sex hormone levels, while children with severe symptoms will develop systemic endocrine disorders. For example, hyperfunction of the adrenal cortex can cause systemic hirsutism in children. Conversely, children with hypofunction of the adrenal cortex will show reduced and dry hair, and even loss of pubic and axillary hair. Those with hyperthyroidism may have fine and soft hair or premature graying of hair. Children with the same hypothyroidism will have reduced hair during the growth phase and increased hair during the regression phase... These are just the external manifestations of endocrine disorders on the hair, there are also many systemic symptoms.

Precocious puberty that develops too early can cause psychological disorders in patients and have an adverse effect on height and physical development. Therefore, it is recommended that everyone should pay attention to the fact that although children with precocious puberty often have accelerated bone growth and appear taller than children of the same age, this is only a temporary phenomenon. Therefore, parents should avoid giving their children snacks to prevent their children from suffering from precocious puberty.
