What should I do if my child has a fever and feels cold?

Children will always have fever during their growth process, and their parents will be very anxious because if the fever persists and cannot be reduced, it will lead to other more serious diseases. Some parents, because they do not understand some cooling methods and coping measures, actually aggravate their children's condition. Below, the editor shares with you some physical cooling methods for children with fever, hoping it will be helpful to everyone.

1. Drink more warm water, vegetable juice and fruit juice.

Let your child drink plenty of water and replenish body fluids. This is the most basic method of reducing fever. It is very effective and practical and suitable for all children with fever. Don't drink cold water, because fever is often accompanied by gastrointestinal symptoms and coughing. Drinking cold water will aggravate these accompanying symptoms. Give your child warm water.

2. Warm water bath, that is, wipe the whole body with a warm water towel.

This is a great way to cool down any baby who has a fever. The water temperature should be between 32 and 34 oC, and each wiping time should be more than 10 minutes. The key areas to wipe are the skin folds, such as the neck, armpits, elbows, groin, etc.

3. Warm water bath: The water temperature should be about 3-4℃ lower than the child's body temperature, and each bath should last for 5-10 minutes.

Many parents think that children should not take a bath when they have a fever. In fact, on the contrary, giving children a warm bath can help cool down the baby. A warm bath is suitable for all babies with a fever. However, you should prepare an ice pack when bathing your baby to prevent the high temperature from damaging your baby's brain.

4. Low-temperature chamber method: Place the sick child in an environment with a room temperature of about 24°C to slowly lower the body temperature.

In order to allow the skin to come into contact with the outside air and help cool down, people need to wear less clothes. If a child has chills or shivering when having a fever, the low-temperature chamber method should not be used.

The above are the treatments for colds and fevers. When their children have a fever, many parents cover their children tightly because their children say they are cold, thinking that covering them thicker can help them sweat and the fever will go down once the children sweat. A child's cold limbs are actually a manifestation of internal heat, and children's sweat glands are underdeveloped, so it is difficult to achieve the purpose of covering up sweat, so it is best not to cover up sweat.
