What should you pay attention to when your baby is just born?

Many parents put their newborn babies in their mouths for fear that they will melt, hold them in their palms for fear that they will drop, and are afraid that the baby's body will be stimulated and hurt. Because the baby's body is very fragile at this time, if the newborn baby is weak, appropriate protective measures must be taken to avoid the child from being hurt. Bathing, feeding, changing diapers, etc. of newborn babies must be taken seriously. So what should newborn babies pay attention to?

Never leave your baby alone on a changing surface, in bed, on a chair, or on the sofa, even for a second. Don't think it's okay if your baby can't roll over yet. He (she) may fall down at any time due to moving around. So, unless the diaper changing table has a safety strap, you must keep one hand free to protect your baby.

When bathing your baby in a large bathtub, be sure to put a towel underneath to prevent slipping, hold the baby with one hand, and it is best to have two people bathe the baby together.

Do not leave your baby with minors or unfamiliar people for temporary care. Also, do not leave newborns and babies under 5 years old in a room without adult supervision.

1. Keep warm: Newborns have thin subcutaneous fat and a large relative body surface area, so they can easily dissipate heat. In addition, the temperature regulation center of newborns is immature. If the temperature is too high, excessive evaporation of water can cause "dehydration fever"; if the temperature is too low, the newborn's own heat production is insufficient, which can cause "scleredema." Therefore, we should pay attention to the environmental temperature and humidity of the newborn, often touch the temperature of the newborn's hands and feet, and add or remove quilts and clothes in time to keep the newborn's body temperature within the normal range.

2. Feeding: Newborns have poor digestive function, and breast milk is the most ideal food. Breastfeeding should be insisted on. If breastfeeding is not available, infant formula can be used.

3. Prevent infection: Newborns have poor resistance and are easily infected. Therefore, try to reduce visits from relatives and friends. Wash your hands with soap before caring for the newborn. Washing your hands clean is very important to prevent neonatal infection. People at home who have colds or various infectious diseases should not come into contact with newborns.

4. Skin care: The skin of newborns is delicate, so it is very important to keep the skin dry and clean, especially the skin wrinkles such as the neck, armpits, elbows, groin, etc. They should be bathed and changed every day, and diapers should be changed in time when they are wet. They should be cleaned after each urination and defecation. When cleaning the vulva of baby girls, wipe from the perineum to the anus to prevent feces around the anus from contaminating the vagina and urethra.

5. Environmental hygiene: The newborn's room should have fresh air, appropriate temperature and humidity, and be tidy and clean.

6. Pay attention to temperature and light for newborn babies. Newborns are somewhat not adapted to the changes in external temperature. The appropriate indoor temperature should be maintained at 25℃ ~ 28℃. It should be cooled down appropriately in midsummer and kept warm in winter. However, it should be noted that it is best to have a heater next to you during ventilation. The indoor light should not be too dark or too bright. Some parents think that newborns have weak photosensitivity and are afraid of irritating their eyes, so they often like to hang heavy curtains. In fact, this is not appropriate. Babies should learn to adapt to natural indoor light and avoid direct sunlight to the eyes.

In daily life, you must reduce the pressure on your baby. When bathing your baby, pay attention to the water temperature and don't let it be too hot. Also pay attention to feeding your baby properly. Many newborns are not satisfied when eating, so you must also feed your baby properly at this time to avoid feeding your baby too much at one time. If you eat too much, it may cause indigestion in your child.
