Parents generally think that their children's vomiting is caused by gastrointestinal problems. In fact, the reasons are very complicated. So, what causes children to vomit?

A baby's vomiting may not necessarily be a gastrointestinal problem. Vomiting is just a symptom and may also be caused by a disease. Eighty percent of vomiting is caused by gastrointestinal problems. However, if the baby has persistent vomiting, in addition to replenishing electrolytes and water in a timely manner and paying attention to whether the baby has symptoms of dehydration, the baby should be sent to the doctor as soon as possible to find out the cause.

Vomiting is the forceful expulsion of stomach contents through the mouth. Repeated and severe vomiting can cause dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, metabolic poisoning and nutritional disorders. Vomiting is a reflex action of the human body. When the vomiting center in the medulla oblongata receives stimulation from the gastrointestinal tract, vestibule, vision, cerebral cortex, or some substances in the blood or cerebrospinal fluid, vomiting can be caused.

There are many reasons for vomiting. Although most of them are gastrointestinal diseases, throat inflammation, vomiting after coughing, otitis media, nervous system diseases, metabolic diseases, urinary tract infections, etc. may also cause vomiting. Sometimes, vomitus contains some green bile, which indicates that there is a blockage in a section of the gastrointestinal tract, and the location may be after the second part of the duodenum. Of course, vomitus containing bile may simply occur during severe vomiting without any gastrointestinal obstruction.

In fact, when it comes to the question of why children vomit, many adults have a preconceived idea that it is because the children have eaten something wrong, or it is caused by poor gastrointestinal function. There are many reasons for vomiting. If you are not sure what the cause is, do not give your child medicine casually. Some medicines are not suitable for children's physique. It is best to listen to your doctor's advice on medication issues.
