What are the tests for ADHD in children?

Some children study in the classroom, but they always find it difficult to persist for a long time and can only concentrate for a short time. It is easy to imagine the academic performance of such children. For such children, they may be naturally lively and active, but their good habits are not maintained, or they may suffer from ADHD. If it is ADHD, be sure to pay attention to timely correction to avoid affecting the child's life. So, how do you diagnose whether your child has ADHD?

1. Neurophysiological testing: Neurophysiological testing directly detects the overall physiological function of the nervous system. The most common measurement method is the electroencephalogram, which is often used to detect ADHD.

2. Behavioral examination: Since ADHD has long been believed to be associated with mild brain dysfunction (MBD), most detection methods are targeted at MBD, especially neurological examinations and electroencephalograms, but these methods have certain limitations. In all cases, it is of great value to monitor specific behaviors and interactions between children.

3. The ADHD detection method recommended by R.A. Barkley (1981) is an example. This method mainly includes three contents: interviews with children, parents and teachers; behavioral scales; direct observation testing.

4. Children's proofreading test: Give the children several pages of paper with single numbers other than 1 and 9 written on them. The examiner reads the numbers and the subjects look at the numbers on the paper. When the examiner reads out a number that is different from the number written on the paper, the subjects should cross out this number. The scoring standard is the number of missed or incorrect strokes.

5. Graphic matching test: Give children some graphics, some of which are standard graphics, and ask them to choose a graphic that is exactly the same as the standard graphic in the question.

If your child has problems concentrating, is not interested in studying, has a bad temper, etc., you should suspect whether your child has ADHD. At this time, you can go to the hospital for the above-mentioned examinations to confirm the diagnosis. If the child has ADHD, parents should give more love and patience and correct the child in a timely manner.
