What causes shortness of breath in young children?

Nowadays, many families have only one child. Parents take meticulous care of their children. They notice every change in their children and pay close attention to their children's every move. Some parents find that their children have rapid breathing when they sleep. So what is the reason for rapid breathing in young children? Need to be processed?

Neonatal tachypnea syndrome

Babies whose lungs are not fully developed at birth may be at risk for developing Tachypnea of the Newborn. The National Health Service says babies most at risk of the condition are those born prematurely, before 28 weeks of gestation. This respiratory syndrome becomes very apparent within a few hours of birth.

Symptoms include rapid, lighter breathing with flared nostrils, gurgling noises from the nose, and tiny blue spots on the skin. Neonatal tachypnea syndrome is not a very common disease for babies who have already fully developed, but when they are in the mother's body, in addition to precocious puberty, there are also some diseases such as diabetes that threaten the baby's growth.

Although some babies have died from the more severe form of neonatal tachypnea, the number of successful treatments has increased significantly over the past few years.

Meconium aspiration syndrome

If your baby has trouble breathing in the first ten to twenty minutes after birth, along with short, shallow breaths, he may have meconium aspiration syndrome. The condition begins before your baby is born, during the meconium passage, a thick, green fluid that forms in your baby's intestines and is discharged into the amniotic fluid.

If your baby breathes in this fluid, it may get into his lungs and starve his body of oxygen. This problem can also cause problems with the baby's lung development and breathing, and in some cases it can even cause the baby's death.

pneumonia

Pneumonia is an infectious disease of the lungs that can cause respiratory problems such as wheezing, shortness of breath, chest pain and coughing. In some cases, the only symptom of pneumonia is shortness of breath. Pneumonia can be caused by viruses or bacteria. Those pneumonias caused by bacteria usually develop symptoms more quickly.

However, pneumonia caused by a virus can cause symptoms more slowly and may not appear as serious. So, if you look at the symptoms alone, you might be able to tell whether a particular pneumonia is caused by bacteria or a virus.

If a young child has shortness of breath, you should take the child to the hospital for examination in time, because many diseases can cause shortness of breath in children, especially newborns, whose lungs are not fully developed. If shortness of breath occurs, it may be closely related to pneumonia, meconium aspiration syndrome, etc., so timely treatment is necessary.
