What to do if your child has dandruff

What to do if your child has dandruff

The main reason why children develop dandruff is because of bacterial growth on the scalp. It usually occurs in people with oily scalps. It is recommended that you choose a suitable shampoo to clean dandruff. When children have dandruff, we can use baking soda for massage or aspirin for washing their hair. For these treatments, we recommend that you pay attention to symptoms of scalp allergies.

1. What to do if your child has dandruff

1.1 Baking soda massage

Wet your child's hair, then sprinkle a pinch of baking soda on it and massage it into the scalp thoroughly. Rinse well with a mild shampoo. Baking soda can inhibit fungal overgrowth and leave your hair clean.

1.2. Wash your hair with aspirin

Aspirin contains salicylic acid, which forms an important ingredient in medicated shampoos used to combat dandruff. Crush 2 aspirin tablets, add the powder to a copper-sized amount of shampoo, apply it on the scalp for 1 to 2 minutes, then rinse it off and shampoo your hair.

1.3. Rinse your hair with mouthwash

Did you think mouthwash could only fight dental problems? It can also fight dandruff. Wash your hair with shampoo first, then rinse with an alcohol-based mouthwash. Its antifungal properties inhibit the growth of dandruff-causing yeast, leaving hair shiny and shiny.

1.4. Salt massage scalp

Sprinkle the salt directly on your child's scalp, then rub and massage the scalp in circular motions. This will clean your scalp and make it spotless. Wash your hair with shampoo after massage.

1.5. Apply garlic to the scalp

Although garlic has a pungent smell, its antifungal properties can be used to treat dandruff. To avoid pungent odors in your hair, mix garlic paste with honey and apply it on your scalp. Leave it on for a few minutes before washing it out with shampoo.

2. Why do children have dandruff?

2.1. Excessive oiliness of the skin

When the hair follicles overproduce skin oil or sebum, it often leads to the accumulation of Malassezia on the scalp and thus triggers the formation of dandruff.

2.2 Bad hygiene habits

If a young child does not wash his hair regularly, his scalp can become dry and flaky, and dead skin cells can accumulate on the surface of the scalp and lead to deposits of dandruff.

2.3 Contact dermatitis

Many chemical hair products have the potential to cause contact dermatitis. The problem of contact dermatitis can trigger the formation of dandruff in young children. Some symptoms of contact dermatitis are flaking, flakes, and severe itching.

2.4. Skin is too dry

If your child has excessively dry skin, white flakes seem to settle primarily on the scalp due to atmospheric changes, thus forming dandruff.

3. What vitamins are lacking when you have dandruff?

3.1 Vitamin B

Vitamin B1, B2, B6, and B12 are elements that promote hair growth and are very effective in treating baldness. The main food sources include bran bread, black rice, semolina, animal liver, egg yolks, fish, pork, milk, fruits, green leafy vegetables, soybeans, etc.

3.2 Vitamin D

Vitamin D is beneficial to the normal development of hair, which prevents it from being too thin and soft. The main food sources include animal liver, egg yolks, various fish, dried mushrooms, etc.

3.3 Vitamin A

Vitamin A is beneficial for treating rough skin, dandruff and dry hair. The main food sources are egg yolks, carrots, beef, and fruits such as persimmons, pineapples, and bananas.

When the hair shows the following conditions, it means that vitamin supplements are needed. When the hair becomes dull and gradually changes color, you need to eat more foods high in iodine and calcium, such as kelp, small fish, clams, fresh eggs, etc.
